The event that is going to occur at noon on Sunday will be a 1 time thing. Either you’re there to see it, or you have to go watch a replay on youTube.

What is this event going to be? I have an educated guess. The fountain in Lion’s Arch will burst open and a portal to the Mad King’s Realm will open.

That’s all that’s going to happen. I’m sure it’s going to look cool, but there won’t be any achievements, any epic loot raining from the sky, none of that nonsense.

The reason ANet won’t repeat it or stagger it across servers? It’s a portal to another zone. Imagine how inconvenient it would be to try and do actual Halloween content if the portal you need to go through is only up for 5 minutes every hour, because the rest of the time it’s sealed/blocked off because the animation is playing through.

Same logic follows for staggering it. How fair would it be for your home world if you wanted to do the Mad King’s Realm but your server isn’t slated to have the portal open for another 8 hours, meanwhile all the other worlds are in there and having fun.

This is what people are complaining about that they’re going to miss. A portal opening up. If you really want to see it open, watch it on youTube from someone that has a $10k rig and all graphics settings on maximum. I’ll likely barely be able to watch it on my potato in the first place.

Is your potato powered by a lemon and a couple wires? Cause that’s what mine is like lol.

As far as speculation, I suspect you’re pretty close to what will happen. It’s my theory too, although I bet they have a few more aesthetic events happening that will drive future events. Maybe some time of the Mad King terrorizing the town or something to that nature.

You might be right. Had LA load up slow the other day and all the objects weren’t on screen and i discovered a medium sized hole under where the fountain is. (I couldn’t fall into it since the objects were really there just hadn’t loaded up).

So I wager that’s a good guess.

I like this idea a lot. If it turns out ANet has something else planned, I hope they use this as a suggestion for future events.

I think we´ll see a dramatic entrance of the Mad King himself, hence it being a 1time, streamed event.

I hope the OP isn’t right. I knew something was going on with the fountain, but I was hoping it was just content fluff for the holidays and not anything permanent.

The LA fountain is iconic. Rebuilding it after the city sunk was sort of like a memorial, and I liked the lore behind all of the races contributing something different to it. Really a symbol for the whole hub-city excepting all comers and encouraging inter-racial peace thing LA has going on.

I was thinking it would be more along the lines of the Nightfall plot. The Mad King shows up and starts merging Tyria with his realm. Act 4 has the players stopping the merge and driving off the king, but some areas remain twisted and corrupt or have the “veil” between realms thin enough to jump between them. So the event scars Tyria forever, but not to the extent that the Dragons did.

Or maybe, the Mad King raised Zhaitan from the sea and reanimated or reinvigorated (since we didnt actually see the undead dragon die) him. We might see Os come riding in to Lions Arc mounted on a vengeful elder dragon!
