As far as I noticed it didn’t happen all the time and you had to eat a few to get it to happen but who knows perhaps they disabled it?

I think it’s just a chance to happen. Some of the other foods have effects too that sometimes trigger and sometimes don’t. One food (can’t remember which one) turned me into a skeleton.
