Q:
The Very Special, One Time Only Surprise: 3 Questions.
You won’t get a reply from A-net I’m betting. They haven’t posted a single reply in this whole section (Halloween section) in quiet awhile. Little things here and there, but nothing as far as replying to our questions/feedback.. Many are saying that A-net are simply being quiet in hopes we will forget about the nerfs that everyones upset about. I, too, have these questions and hope for a reply, I’m just saying I doubt it happens..
well they had this to say:

As some of you noticed, we have published the time of the special event which will occur on Sunday, October the 28th at 12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT.
On the holiday team, we are fully aware of the fact that not everyone can be logged into the game at specific time. We’re also aware that people live in different time zones, and those times can potentially fall on different calendar days. This is why each act is a phase, or a period of time, rather than a moment in time.
The one major exception is the beginning of Act 3, which is something that I think most people will want to be around to see. The choice of 12:00 PM Pacific Time/19:00 GMT on Sunday was a very informed, calculated decision. It was primarily based on the fact that it’s pretty much the peak of our weekly concurrency, which means it satisfies the highest possible percentage of our users. It also means that it’s the same calendar date whether you’re American or European.
For those of you wondering, having the event at separate times for separate zones is actually one of the worst options. Whatever happens is going to be on livestreams instantly and then on YouTube about five minutes later. At least this way, everyone has a chance to experience it in the game, without having it spoiled by the rapid availability of video on the Internet.
Apparently they think denying many of their players the opportunity to experience an event and instead be forced to watch it on youtube is preferable to them actually playing it with the reason that they might “spoil” the event by watching on youtube before participating.
… Yep. They’ve turned into idiots.
Tarnished Coast
^ That’s why I’m thinking that that isn’t the reason at all. It simply makes no sense under even the slightest critique.
You’d have thought Anet would have learnt how to run holiday events from gw1. Then again, so many things in gw2 seem like a step backwards.
Their excuse about how they don’t want people to see spoilers is just that, an excuse, and an idiotic one at that. The real reason likely has to do with them not being able to figure out a way to have the event repeat. And I don’t blame them for setting their standards low, they rarely manage to implement anything without bugs as it is. At least with a single one time event they’ll get it right… right?
