A consideration:
I know that GW2 fans have been waiting to see the new content, but perhaps better timing should be considered. Sitting down to enjoy the 45 minutes or so I get a chance to play after I put the kids to bed and before I have to go to bed to work early, I find that I am being kicked from the game shortly after logging in. Now, less than 5 minutes left, I am still waiting for the patch to download completely. Why not release a patch at 4am when there are less people online?

Just a thought.
Goodnight

Usually they release the patches earlier in the day, usually primetime for NA servers.
However, due to this patch being two things in one—a seasonal event and an actual expansion on content in-game—they probably had to do more testing on it to make sure everything worked as well as it could in a controlled setting before they set it to live. That is why the patch came out at the hour it currently did.

I do agree that patches should be launched in the wee hours of the morning, though with this patch being as anticipated as it has been, I’m kinda glad that it got released now rather than later.

It is always an inconvenient time for someone in the world. In another thread, someone else was irritated that we were releasing the update during “prime time.” A note: it is 4 in the morning in some parts of Europe right now, so it’s a good time for them to get the patch, as there are fewer online there.
