I guess there are more people like me who, while enjoying the festive mood, would like to get as many of the event achievements out of the way and as fast as possible. Call us achievements kittens, nod politely and move away, but there are people who first and foremost enjoy getting those points

What do we know so far:

• the new Explorer achievements are here to stay – no rush doing them;
• the new Costume Brawl achievement (under Community!) is here to stay, as is the Costume Brawl, but you will need a costume or an animal tonic to participate and get the achievement post-Halloween;
• the four new jumping puzzles are here to stay and we have a while to figure them out, no need to ‘spoil’ those yet;
• the new Bosses achievement stay as well, and are mostly tied to world bosses;

A whole other tab, Event Achievements, is my main focus right now.
What do we know about those achievements:

• Emissary of the Mad King is awarded for maxing out all the other achievements;
• Trick or Treat bags can be obtained out in the world, and can also be bought on TP; you need to open 60 to max out;
• Pumpkin Carving requires you to run up to any interactable pumpkin and hit F; they spawn randomly all around the world for you; you need 150 to max out the achievement;
• Halloween Huntin’ requires you to kill special Halloween monsters that spawn from Haunted Doors; a good spot is jut NW of Broadhollow wp in Gendarran Fields;
• the monthly achievement requires you to eat Candy Corn which can be looted, mined or bought off TP; you need to eat 150 Corns to max.

It raises a few questions, and if anyone can answer them, please do so – and in as much detail as you can:
1. answered
2. What and where is the Hydra Queen boss under the Bosses tab?
3. answered
4. Where are the locations of Halloween Events? How many do you need for max tier?
5. What and where do you need to do for It’s a Mad King’s World?
6. I guess the party mentioned in Attend the Party is the Halloween Finale, but has anyone found out anything different?
7. And the Mad King’s Clock Tower – where to start? Is it even in-game yet?

I would appreciate an official ArenaNet nudge of ‘this and that is not implemented yet, come back in a few days’ so that i don’t waste time hunting something non-existant.

Monsters that spawn from ‘Haunted Doors’ in the open world. Such as mummies.

Monthly achievement is 150 pieces of candy corn.

i just finished my monthly and got 10 jugs of karma.. 45k without boosters(if they work, then 67k)

Thanks. Nice thread. Should be stickied. This is what I was looking for.
Especially the missable stuff like the achievements that need to be done and the info on the last part of the monthly achievement.

Also for items it would be interesting which stuff you can get is permanent and which only temporary? Or is all the stuff dropped and buyable at trading post still usable after the event?

I mainly want the achievements(going for the ones that need to be done during event first) and as much items stuff(if it is usable after event) you can get through playing without buying anything from trading post.

Don’t don’t dont don’t buy Tricks or Treat bags from Gem Store. I spent 925 gems on them, that’s some 10g, when I could just buy 250 candy corn from tp and trade those bags from kids (50 Pieces of Candy corn = 8 bags, 40 bags for achievement)

So, either some 10g+ for gems or 1g12s50c (45c each) @ tp.

1. If the mad kings clock tower is in game yet and if so were it is?
2. says we need to complete halloween events i havent seen any any info on that?
3. carving pumpkins ive only seen a few of these is there a trick to finding more of them so i can actually get it done?

carving pumpkins are scattered throughout LA and the pve world. mostly near poi’s and waypoints.

So would my best bet just to run around LA tell i find them cause this seems like it could take a crazy amount of time.

where can you trade those candy corn for bags?

Not really. I completed “Master Carver” achievement about 2 hours ago

Costume Brawl is farmable in duo if at least one person has the witch costume – spawn a cauldron, enter the brawl yourself and let one person farm points off the other.
I’m already nearly done with 6th tier by legit play in LA, using the black lion tonics i’ve gathered all this time and cauldrons dropped by random people, but since it’s here to stay, i think i’ll focus on other achievements first.

Any tips in regard to the carving pumpkins?

I am pretty sure that we can’t do the Tower, Party or Mad King’s World achievements yet.
Focus on getting the scavenger hunt above done, farm Halloween Huntin’, carve every pumpkin you can and open all the tot bags you find until you hit 60. Eat 150 Candy Canes for the monthly achievement.
Have some fun with Costume Brawl in the meantime, but as i said above, it can be easily farmed later in duo with someone who has the witch costume – though obviously not as fun.

Besides that, wait for Act II and if you want to get the most out of Halloween, and not necessarily fun-wise, mine Candy Canes and farm mobs for tots (Orr events? dungeons like CoE2?).

As far as Carving Pumpkins. I have had most luck finding them in the human zones nears civilization (Queensdale, Kessex, and Gendarran are the only ones I’ve scouted so far). I have 75 pumpkins carved so far. And the ones in LA seem to randomly reset sometimes, not sure if they have a random timer or what.

I’m interested to see where the other achievements come from. The Scavanger hunt was a lot of fun, and I did it without a guide, wasn’t too hard. :P Can’t wait to see the rest of it. Not to mention the back slot item looks really cool (not that it fits my character).

The only achievement I am seriously concerned about is the Haunted Doors ones. Outside of the human low-level zones I have yet to run into one. I did a full sweep of cursed shore and didn’t see one. I know they can despawn pretty quickly but I dunno. :/

In LA there is at least 34-35 diffirent pumpkins just take a walk trip to every PoI and Vista in LA and don’t forget to hold left Ctrl
You can just switch to another character and do another trip – all pumpkins will restart

@drkn – Hydra Queen = Taidha Covington, located in Laughing Gull Island in Bloodtide Coast (there is an event chain to defeat her)

@penatbater – there are kids in costume around the Lion fountain in LA asking for candy corns, giving tot bags in return

Do the haunted doors only appear in Kryta zones or are they appearing all over Tyria?

What about events? What about that event in Lion’s Arch near the NPC that starts the Scavenger Hunt? Is it possible to finish that event? At least here on my server it seems stuck and the bar is not progressing(Paranormal Disturbance Zone).

haters gonna hate anyway wether you make a post like this or not i love it as a casual player i just dont have time to figure it all out by myself thank you for this.

There are 35 Pumpkins total in Lion’s Arch, including 2 in Weyandt’s Revenge. Myself and another person on Kaineng spent what seemed like forever searching high and low and came up with that amount.

There are no pumpkins in any of the other cities though. However, you can either get the 35 and then go hunting for pumpkins in the explorable zones, or swap to another character and get all 35 in LA again until you’ve finished the achievement.

@Luthan: I’ve got a feeling the Paranormal Disturbance Zone is simply counting up the acts. The bar is almost exactly 1/4th full, which matches with us being in Act 1 of 4. Think of it as a countdown to the final event. Of course, I could be wrong, but it makes sense in my eyes.

Is the achievement “Attend the party” obtainable right now or is it part of one of the next acts? If it’s already in…how do you do that?!

as far as LA and pumpkin carvings go, overflow is your friend.

So ive done a Halloween door now that they are fixed and it appeares that they don’t count for Halloween events completed even though the doors are events so either its bugged or something else is the events.

I think ‘attend the party’ is the mad king event on the 28th in the central plaza in lions arch. We might not be able to get it until then if this is it.

I’m having this same issue as well. I don’t know if its a bug, or that these aren’t the events we’re looking for. So far I’ve killed the giant king candy elemental, the mummy, and various “kill everything that comes out of the door” events and none of them have updated my achievement list.

I have opened a few doors. Played my new elementalist in Metrica Province first and then later I decided to play a bit my lvl 42 guardian and went to Gendarran Fields. It really seems that the doors are only in Kryta? In Metrica Province I have not seen 1 door.

But no events. I think the events have to be stuff that showas as event with the orange text? Maybe this will only be possible at Act II? At least for me the doors were just doors without an event and some smaller mobs that seemed to have a higher drop rate for trick or treat bags or other haloween crafting stuff(that drops random from other mobs in the world but much more rare there… at least I found bags from other mobs and got crafting stuff from bags).

Can anyone post pics to weapon skins? Also, once used, they last forever and not just for the duration of the Halloween event, yes?

You can preview the items from a candy corn vendor near the mystic forge in LA. The ones he sells are temporary. If you want a permanent skin it requires getting the recipe for it from the mystic forge.
