The group I was with did not know that a chest spawned at the end of the mad king fight and we left after the reward popped up at the end.

Not until checking the forum did we know about a chest.

Some people are saying the quest is repeatable, some saying it isnt, some are saying they didnt get loot every time, a lot of conflicting information.

If we did not use the chest will we be able to run the dungeon again and use it without being penalized?

chest pops up every time, you get loot from it every time.

But will you be affected by diminishing returns if you did not loot it the first time?

No diminishing returns, it is very very farmable.

Diminishing Returns only affects that popup reward that has the ToT bag, the materials, and the 10 slot bag (which becomes 5, then 3, etc ToT Bags)

Except that it can also drop the Halloween weapons, which can sell for quite a bit.

A chest icon appears on the minimap when the Mad King is defeated. You can run it multiple times if you want.

I didn’t get a thing out of the chest myself (not even a blue) but loved the dungeon; made it worth my while just to see it.

well, a guy, who was running the instance with me, got 2 exotics from 3 runs.
and I got nothing, just greens.

So I guess it’s depends on your luck.

Yeah, the dungeon and fight were fun. But our group was disappointed by the rewards (only a 10 slot bag? lol). Wish we didnt miss the chest….

I got a lvl 80 exotic hammer, various greens and blues, 2 magic find boosters, 2 repair cannisters and quite a few halloween crafting materials and t-o-t bags.

It takes maybe 10 minutes, so all in all I’d say it’s worth it.

The same thing happened to me…. mad king ported back to a previous platform during the fight. So after we killed him I didn’t see any chest because apparently it was on the lowest platform. Anyway, the fight was fun but I’m sorry I missed out on any possible weapons.
