Has Anet every confirmed what (if anything) will be avaliable next year?

Obiouvsly every festivity will have seasonal items. I truly believe Anet devs will work a couple minutes developing new costumes and new weapons, for Halloween 2013. So except if they are gonna copypaste this event, (a bit pathetic) yes, every Halloween 2012 item is unique. Guess you was wondering if you can split on this year and next year your farm for exotic Aracnophobia etc right?

Well , maybe the craft materials will return at least , so if you get the recipe , you can get it later? This is just guessing , not sure even Anet knows.

I’m sure the crafting mats will return since the holiday craftable items are permanent. I’d assume we’d have new costumes and weapons skins though. I doubt we’ll get an official answer though as I know they don’t like to talk about things that aren’t 100%

Historically in GW1, every year saw a new set of skins – though once in a while they had offers on the CS where they’d have the most popular skins of the last few years available as a brief comeback offer.

It won’t be til years down the line will we truly know their long term pattern for GW2. While I’d like to think there’ll be a second chance for stuff like the greatsaw, in GW1 this was never the case some of the really neat and unique halloween costume stuff remained unique.

(Of course in GW1, the uniqueness was a reward for being a long term player. In GW2 it’s a reward for having a HUGE wallet or insane luck)

Crafting mats probably yes.
I doubt they will repeat the skins each year or it would defeat the purpose of being exclusive.

They could just bring the old skins and then add a few new skins as well. Then people could decide what to get. Of course the people that already had farmed to get one of the older skins will have it easier to get old AND new skins.

Would be the best solution. Then nobody needs to cry because they did not have enough time this year and still can get the stuff from this year in next year.

With a low drop rate, I’d assume they’d bring them back at the same low drop rate and add new skins to boot.

It was much more common in GW1 to get holiday stuff. It was a sign you played that year in that event. You just finished it and were rewarded.

If GW2 switches to a rare and retired pattern, there will be even more outcry. Since many are being patient and calm thinking “I’ll just work on it this year and next.”

Imo, bringing back the old skins will have a problem to a group of players. I read some people spent hundreds in blc or gem transactions to get the skins to feel special and exclusive. They had a mentality that those skins remain exclusive forever before choosing to purchase to that extent.

I also feel it will be nice if they bring them back again in future. But after considering those players, I feel having them re-released when it’s exclusive would be unfair to them.

@Naoko: Half those players with wallets big enough to get these rare skins in the first place will’ve found some other rare and expensive toy to flash about by next year anyway (Another rare and expensive skin, or maybe a legendary), marks my words.

The population that will most appreciate these skins are the 90% of the population who don’t have bugger all gold or money to throw about who happened to get lucky on their few chests they bought. They’ll likely wear that skin with pride for years to come.

My guess is that the Black lion chests gives the option for different rewards through the years, and we’ll also have static rewards (Probably the exotics.)

Well that would be the problem of those players that spend all the money. At least the craftable stuff could return(not stuff only exclusive from chests but the things you need to get like 100 nougat or plastic fang or stuff like that for the recipe).

Also if the other stuff returned: If the drop rates are really that low(and stay that low) it will still be expensive for others to get it. So it is not that it gets cheaper and the other paid too much.
