I noticed that the Witch’s [ignore this] Hat was accepted by the mystic forge, so I gathered 4 hats from different characters, put them in the forge, and was rewarded with (drum roll)… some level 0 chainmail boots.

I’m guessing this is a bug, and the forge shouldn’t accept the hat at all, but if it is supposed to accept the hat, then shouldn’t it reward a piece of town clothes (instead of armour)? Maybe the (slightly different) hat from the gem store’s Witch Costume, or something like that?

BTW, the Amazing Forum Censorship Filter doesn’t let me write “witch’s” followed by “hat”.

forge seems to accept all costume clothing (including items from the mad king costume)…I’ve not put any of it in, but I’d assumed it would work just like any other piece of armor in it and give you the same quality item in return.

Working as intended, town clothes are considered level 0 white armors.

The forge doesn’t accept the celebration hat, for example (and I’m pretty sure it doesn’t accept the horns, either), so if the witch’s … hat is “working as intended”, the celebration hat is bugged.

Horns don’t work because you can get an unlimited amount of them.
It was hotfixed the first day because you could get infinite items using the forge.

Was expecting a recipe to get the cat with the witch hat for a pet when i saw the thread title am disappoint

The gem store Witch costume can summon that cat.

Maybe Arena Net tried writing “witch’s … hat”, it got replaced with “kitten” by the censorship filter, and they decided to make a hat that summoned a kitten.

I know the witch costume summons it, but was hoping for a more permanent pet (one that doesnt have to be resummoned every 5 minutes)

Are you serious?
You have to roll a new character and wait 30-60 minutes for a witch hat. Maybe in a year you will get ~8000 to get a lvl 80 green in the forge.
You can get any amount of horns you want instantly. Think about it.

The issue isn’t how long it takes; the issue is why do town clothes become armour. If the forge is going to accept them, it should return an item of the same type (town clothes).
