sadly disappointed in Halloween Events
This event is amazing. If you don’t like it, don’t play it.
I managed to get my second book on two level 12s, one level 14, a level 22, a level 24, and and two level 32s.
I didn’t group or ask guildies to come along. I just did the trek. I died a lot. Someone totally unknown to me was always fast to come assist me on my way! (Kudos and thanks to them all!)
I also spent a lot of time on my 80s patrolling in those areas to assist lower level characters. It was great fun!
If you stop being timid and just jump in I think you’ll find the experience is fun!
I was able to add many good folks to my friends list with the book scavenging events, both while playing as a level 80 escorter and when playing a weak low level being persistant to get what I wanted.

So you got to make a book that’s appropriate for your level and you object to the fact that higher levels get to make a book that is appropriate for them?
I could be wrong, but I don’t think that low levels are meant to get the higher book since that would be way overpowered.

Maybe you could consider to stop being anti-social and have some friends. Just a thought.
The point is, those ANET bloggers should not have claimed that level wouldn’t be a factor, when it clearly is.
Books aren’t the main event, they’re a very small part of the halloween event. You still have access to 90-95% of the activities even if you’re level 1. And we didn’t see yet the whole halloween event, so definitely, there’s no way books can be considered as the main event.
“Before you rant on…. I do not belong to a guild, I did not “group” with other players as they always seem to think that it’s not necessary as this is a no kill steal game. So I was alone and it was up to me to “follow” a crowd and hope for the best. This is not always fun, and only works some of the time. (one caveat: I LOVE that players take the time (well most players anyway) to revive fallen players, or at least give it a good effort. Kudos on that!!)
I really thought that there would be events that every level could participate in (NO not PVP or WvW — I don’t do those and many don’t either — I’m a PvE kinda guy) So besides running around in Lions Arch wasting time playing boxing match, or food fights, there was nothing obtainable for new or lower level players. So a lot of people will be left high and dry after the dust from this event clears, while all the higher level players will be running around with the trophies and rubbing it in our low level faces.”
Well… for the first point, the game is called “Guild Wars”. Guilds are kind of a big feature in this game (and most other MMOs) as it is a group based game.
For the second point, there is a lot of things for low levels to do. There’s the Mad King’s Realm which contains the jumping puzzle (not level based), Lunatic Inquisition (not level based, and is essentially hide and seek), Reaper Rumble (not level based, Moba style minigame) as well as the actual Mad King’s Labyrinth, which scales you up to level 80.
