I don’t know why, but every time I try to make a white human, I feel like they are either ghostly white or pink. Can anyone help me with a good choice for the skin color? Thanks.

What kind of skin tone do you want? Posting a picture of a person as a reference might help.

It’s pretty easy to just choose one of the medium skin tones, but I prefer slightly tanned characters. Try Pale 2, 3, Light 6, or Mid 1, which should have enough color for you.

Don’t know that exactly you are looking for but I’m using light 6 option and it feels pretty natural to me, you could also try mid 1.

Brown 2 is without question the most beautiful available human skin tone. Honestly, I wish I saw more dark-skinned human players instead of the usual pasty majority, especially considering the lore that the humans of Kryta are a historically multiracial people.

“Kryta is a cultural melting pot, housing refugees from all over Tyria. Ascalonians, Canthans, Elonians and even Orrians call this place home. Laws are designed by The Ministry, and citizens of all nationalities are given a voice in Krytan politics, humans having long since put aside heritage in uniting against the threat of the Elder Dragons.” – wiki

Well, people just make what feels nice to them. Players go for “individuality” rather than “diversity”, I think. GW1 main was a tanned Canthan. My Elonian paragon girl was darker, but not completely dark skinned. I made their GW2 “counterparts” similar.

My prob with certain colors is that with dark skin facial features disappear (I LOVE the fact they didn’t forget about lighter inner palm, so many designers skip this!), and pale characters glow like light bulbs. So, sure, I will be making chars somewhere in between. I’m trying to avoid orange lips though, they usually come with more caramel skin tones. They look ill to me. Or… too much carrot juice?

No, No, No! Mummified flesh on the left! Dried bones on the right!

My character is from Canthan decent. It’s pretty cool to see how much tilting the eyes a little, and picking the right hair, can do for your character.

As for skin color, I chose something not to whitish. There’s nothing wrong with a little tan, even on ‘white skinned’ characters. If anything, it makes them look more real, not less.

My female Human Mesmer uses Light 6 too. Fair-skinned, but without looking unnaturally pale. I chose that colour because she’s the descendant of my GW1 Ascalonian Warrior, who was also fair-skinned.

I agree but at the same time, I like how my human stands out. She was supposed to be a bit darker but it was hard to tell from the character selction screen but it doesnt matter. Compared to 99% of the humans out there, she’s pretty darn dark.

All humans, especially those with light skin color, looks unnaturally pale when standing in a dark environment because their skin isn’t affected by shadows.
