Kasmeer and Majory Kiss
Kasmeer is so hot!
witness our wonders and cry out in astonishment and humble themselves.
Beware our mighty works.
It’s a big deal because Anet tried to sell ot as a plot twist.
And then… pvp developement has been sacrificed for this? Not enough.XD

Welp thanks, I opened up that link when someone walked into the room… kitten me right?
I have a feeling I know which expletive that kitten is covering up, so I’m going to say thanks to Titus’ help, you scored. Now thank the man, like a gentleman.
Can someone tell me why this is such a big deal?
It’s not. People who think it’s a big deal have clearly never lost/been close to losing someone they love. Isn’t a kiss just natural in a situation like this? o.o

No that kitten was the other form of the word. The well my life sucks right now version

Or maybe they realize they’ll probably still be stuck in This Mode
Chaos always finds a way, who you think Evil learned it from?
I think it’s stupid as they only seem to be in the game to appeal to male teenagers, but I guess they’re from the same group that includes an anime-eyed Charr and a ginger dark skinned Norn with a mohican.
Actually it is kind of a big deal. To my knowledge, no MMO on the market to date has ever had any explicit gay content (feel free to prove me wrong, I could be). While KasMarjory is certainly on the softer side of this type of material, it is what I would call explicit (the kiss specifically).
Sure, video games has done this before and even topped it with male gay content, which is so much more dangerous apparently. But MMOs are not like normal video games, they have a large and constant playerbase who discuss the game and devote their lives to it in ways you can’t with most other games. More specifically, they interact socially and discuss and analyze the game and its content within the frame of the game itself.
Now, at first I was a bit disappointed that they chose two supermodel human females as their prime example of Tyrian gayness (all lesbians are either blonde bombshells or exotic beauties right?). It comes off very easily as unrealistic and pandering to the male teen demographic. And in a way I still kind of think it is.
But because Anet/NC is taking a very real and probably financial risk by introducing “controversial” content in their game, I am willing to let it slide.
It’s a first small step, and I think they deserve credit for being willing to take it where so many others would have chosen to play it safe instead.
Oh, it definitely panders to hetro male teens, but at the end of the day, at least it’s something. As much as I would like it if people would “appreciate” a male gay couple in the same way… Well… this is the Internet we’re talking about.
Well, wow had blood elves. Does that count?

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I like the Kasmeer/Majory storyline. I think they are a cute couple and their personalities compliment each other nicely. I also think they developed the romance fairly well for those who listened to the ambient dialogue and talked to them. I thought it was interesting that there was tension in their relationship because Marjory was overprotective and Kasmeer resented it. Kasmeer was a little peeved that Marjory seemed to think she was too delicate to take care of herself, and Marjory was scared of losing her and had to learn to let Kasmeer do her own thing. What I loved about the final scene is that it played out as a reversal of those roles. Marjory was the one that got hurt, and Kasmeer was the one who entered the final confrontation with Scarlet.
My only problem with it was that I think they should have killed off Marjory like they originally intended to. Killing Marjory would have made it feel like there were some real permanent and tragic consequences to Scarlet’s actions. Lion’s Arch can always be rebuilt, but if Marjory had died, she would have been gone for good and the characters would have had to deal with that. As it was, the kiss felt like a cheat because it wrapped everything up in a conveniently happy ending. Rox just happened to know some battlefield magic to fix her right up? Seems a little too convenient given the extent of her injuries, but whatever. I like Marjory, so I don’t mind her sticking around for more stories even if her death feels like a cheat—although, now that I think about it, she is a necromancer, so cheating death isn’t totally beyond the realm of possibility.
As far as the argument that Kasmeer and Majory are just for the benefit of male teens, I think that really cheapens the time and effort the developers put into their character development, so I have to disagree. A kiss seemed like a natural response given the situation and it wasn’t overtly sexualized, so I’m not sure how the kiss would be considered pandering to male teens (though Kasmeer’s bombshell appearance and the fact that her cloths are an illusion, etc. are obviously geared towards young male players).
Personally, I think that the Kasmeer/Marjory relationship was a step in the right direction. They built up a cute relationship with fairly realistic tensions using minimal dialogue. I’d like to see them do likewise with other characters in the future whether heterosexual, homosexual, or interracial.
As a final note, although there is at least one example of a male/male sylvari pairing in the game, I agree with others who have stated that male/male pairings are under-represented in relation to female/female relationships. That said, one thing I like about the game is that same sex relationships aren’t overly sexualized or fetishized . I also like the fact that they seem to be generally accepted within the world of the game and not treated as abnormal. I think it is a step in the right direction and look forward to seeing how far they take things.

I think it helps a bit that their romance itself was sold quite ok. Due to the implied time-skips and my char apparently becoming a close friends it became way obvious during the Marionette patch, but in general I like how it wasn’t initially pushed into our faces.
They had their little lines, but that’s it. And even now, there’s that kiss and that’s it again. There’s very little in the way of revelling in this supermodel lesbian couple they have, they just happen to be a couple.
