My character's lineage?
It’s part of the “Never recovered sister’s body” storyline. It would have been a little earlier and it’s used to determine the appearance of your sister. Unfortunately, otherwise it has little impact, it would have been nice if there was more to it.

I agree especially since your sisters name is debra which just doesnt sound right for elonian or canthan origin lineage(not that my character looks very canthan but still…) Also it’d be nice if there was a way to link your gw1 characters into the story, for instance if you could actually pick one as an ancestor and have it impact somehow on your personal storyline(afterall an ancestor who achived so much would cast a long shadow).
I just head-canon’ed it for my Human Mesmer, who is the great-granddaughter of two of my GW1 heroes (a male Ascalonian Warrior, and a female Canthan Assassin). She identifies more with Ascalon than Cantha, however, given Kryta’s stronger ties to Ebonhawke than to Cantha’s isolationist stance, so I picked her heritage as Ascalonian when asked.
Yeah I was wondering about that too. I hope they do something with that, because I’ve completed the personal story and there’s been no ‘real’ outcome from that choice.
Yeah it only effects what your sister looks like.
Canthan is an Asian-look I believe. It would be nice if you guys got to choose where you guys came from then in an Expansion the Hero goes to the homeplace and see the sister there again after being retired from the Company [Just an add-on I made] since you never see or hear from your sister again. It was kinda bleh when I seen it on a video, I wanted a better reunion of the sister and reunion so I made my Guardian a orphan now lol.

My char, Czvek is kurzick, a group of humans from canthan than that are basically Slavs, so not all canthans are Asian.
