T3 light on sale!
I’m sad to see this happening. Terrible move, worst one yet.
So much for the exclusive CULTURAL armor that was available only to humans.
Honestly. This is my first post on these forums. And First time to log in to forums. Also This is the first time in the history of GW2 that I really feel I lost my will to play this game.
(been playing since launch and for a couple thousand hours if someone is interested.)
I did work long and hard for my cultural tier 3 cloth set…
Everything was awesome and fine, and I was farming money for my legendary for 10+ hours a day this and last week – until I saw this fiery fersion of my tier 3 set being buyable for 10 euros on the gemstore and for every race. (I made my characters human only because I wanted that set..) On top of that, it looks a bit cooler than my T3…
Quickly I realized that I feel I don’t have any reason to continue working on my legendary weaponskin either… I can no longer trust that it would stay exclusive. So would be stupid of me to continue using my time for that. I’ll just switch a game.
No more gem buys from this account It seems. Oh well, I supported you (GW2) too much already anyways.

So did I, I’m ACTUALLY enraged for the first time while playing this game.
wheres the refund on my human t3 cultural armor button?

Same here. And it takes a lot for me to get this angry with the dev company. I endure the ‘release beta’ of Mechwarrior Online without getting visibly angry at PGI.
ANet, you owe me half the money I paid for my T3 cultural. Also, in light of this I really don’t think I want a Legendary. Can’t trust that it won’t be usurped by a cheap gem store item.
Well I am kitten ed for the complete opposite reason you all are. I rather pay the $10 and buy the skin that looks similar but DIFFERENT to the cultural armor. albeit they should no have any race able to buy it, idk how they could get that done but make it happen. I was looking forward to buying the light armor skin for my HUMAN elementalist when she hits level 80, but now I cannot and this new armor will probably look stupid based on how much crying is going on. /rant.

It looks exactly the same, some silly particle effects don’t make it a new set.
The skirt does look slightly different, but yeah, it was for all intents and purposes the same skin with new particle effects.
Anyway, ANet has reverted the change. While I personally don’t mind Cultural armor being worn by any race, I agree that the rollback needed to be done. Having a “better” version of an existing armor in the gem store, for less than half the cost, was not a good move.

Yes, taking back the item from the people who bought is much better move!

People who bought it get to keep it until it is changed. Once it is changed, they can either keep the new style or get a refund. No one is simply having their purchased snatched away from them without compensation.
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!
So getting a refund makes it ok? What if I changed my character from male to female and bought dyes to add to the armor? If I spent RL money on gems to get the 800, are they going to refund me my money? If I spent gold to get the 800 gems, am I going to get all my gold back? Gold > gem conversion spiked at this time and I doubt it is a good use of man hours to look through code to determine what the gold investment was to get the gems per person.
They screwed up, yes. However, to punish the people who bought the armor is not right either. Give all t3 cultural owners 800 gems and a pat on the butt and call it a day. As well as discontinue the sale of the armor on the gemstore as is. Move on, it’s a friggin game and stop crying about kitten

We can play the “what if” game all day, but it won’t contribute anything valuable to the discussion. Extra purchases like dye are completely separate, and it would illogical and unrealistic to expect a refund for them. And people can get back the 800 gems they spent, and re-spend them as they please; how players acquired those gems in the first place is not ArenaNet’s concern.

This is so bad move for Anet to actually release a popular culture armor of the human to EVERY race!! That’s just so wrong.
There’s a reason why it’s called ‘culture armor’.
I am so disappointed on this sale.
I am one of the players who actually bought this culture tier 3 armor for golds, alot of golds!
Now you can easily buy it from Gem Store with 800 gems. That’s just sick.
Glad they’ve removed it now.. but I still hate to see it when other players got it.

They are going to change it later on, so those players who bought the armor won’t have it for long.

Envy is bad. So when my character runs past you, you send rays of hatred towards me, even though it wasn’t my fault?!

I merely stated what anet is going to do. I never said I agreed or disagreed with it.
Though I can tell you this. Anet should either make all cultural armor available to every race, or keep it the way it is. And since a lot of people already run around with T3 flamekissed, the first option would probably be best. Also, when a better version of T3 Cultural armor is released, it should at least be more expensive than the original.

Arenanet needs to add new armor designs. Many of the original ones are less than appealing; especially for human female. I prefer low-mid level crafted, and most karma and dropped armor. Cultural, order, most dungeon, and high level craft designs were unappealing. My favorite is Cabalist for human female, followed by Embroidered, Devout, Dry Bones, and others that are less abnormal looking.
I did purchase both Aetherblade and Phoenix skins to support Arenanet.
