What body type are you using? (female)
Hrmm… I can’t remember if I picked body type 1 or 3 for my female Mesmer. It was one of those two though. As to what I would recommend, that’s really up to personal preference. I didn’t want my Mesmer to look too muscle-bound, so that ruled out all the ones with visible abs, but other players may feel differently.
I can’t remember either! I’m a mesmer but I think I picked the one that’s the default when you create an elementalist. I admit I wanted the really narrow waist size but I kind of wish I could have a smaller “chest” …
I used number 7 for my guardian, number 8 for my ranger, and number 5 for my elementalist.
My Engineer alt (my one human female) has body 8, I believe.
I think its 7 for my Guardian. I picked the one that made the most sense given that she’s always in combat/lugging around a massive hammer.
7. I think.
I created her on launch day so I don’t really remember but that looks the most similar. I know I wanted something roughly ‘average’.
I know I used 3 for the character I created the other day because I’m trying to see if she gets hit on so I went for the biggest boobs.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
I actually decided to keep an eye on what people are using in game and noticed most people use body number 3, though it’s not always easy to tell.
I honestly can’t remember which body I chose for my human female Elementalist, but I remember what my criteria were.
All my mage-ish characters are typically female – I dunno why, but it’s a fantasy archetype that I feel most comfortable with as female
I like my fantasy (genre) women to be attractive and obviously female, but not excessively proportioned (like many comic book characters are criticized for being)
Like some have said, I avoided most of the obvious musculature body types, and I wanted a bust for her that would be clearly female, but not excessive…
Unfortunately…since I was concerned that the smaller chests might get lost depending on what types of clothing the characters were allowed, I erred on the side of the larger busts – as it turned out, many of the female cosmetics (at least all the cloth stuff that elementalists get to wear) actually accentuate proportions, rather than…de-accentuating them?…whatever the word would be (I suppose I should have expected that, but I didn’t at the time really know what to expect)
so, I ended up with a female elementalist that in many of the available outfits, looks exactly as comic-book proportioned as I was attempting to avoid – only a couple of the make her look the way I thought she was going to look based on the paper-doll model
I’m starting to discover that this is not an uncommon problem with character creation “pages” – the page you make the character on, doesn’t reflect the normal lighting of the world, or doesn’t account for a large portion of the cosmetics available, and so it’s nearly impossible to gauge what you character will actually end up looking like during real play, vs what you get to see during the usually irrevocable character creating section
since you asked,
3. It’s the most distracting.
What! I’m a mesmer!!
That was actually subject of quite long talk on forums when we got fist betas, female body types the game has to offer. At that time I even made gif picture of bodytypes (see below or use this imgur link http://i.imgur.com/lDoa1yI.gif if forum is slow with attached gif). I also added comments to body types 1-5 since I think those are the most used for casters.
I use number 1, I used to have number 4, but the rib cage thing makes her look like she is holding her breath all the time (compare side views on character creation). Number 5 is nice too if you can handle those tiny feet and stink narrow arms.
See my album http://defora.imgur.com/ if you want to see pic of my ele, thief or mesmer on various armors. Thief has body number 2, so it is basically the same as others.

Ditto. Four sets of… uhm… distractions, can be very valuable. In fact I think it’s a required female mesmer skill. Boob daze:momentarily stuns male opponents and adds an extra stack of confusion.

Lower row, second one for ele (7 according to the OP) and lower row 4th one for guardian (9 according to the OP). Those seem most proportional to my taste, and the visible muscles line is just an extra flavor. Ele runs and dodges a lot, more than my guardian I think. x)
That second to last one on my Thief and Ranger, though the hips seem bigger.
I always choose number 3. It fits very well for everything
