Where is my "dead" sister?
You will see her again later, in Orr. She joins the Vigil and becomes Crusader Deborah. But basically she plays no more part in your personal storyline.
This is one of those situations where the story is just bad. You save your sister (YOUR SISTER) and after that you never hear from her again, ever. You only see her once, and ONLY if you follow a specific mission path (one I did not pick because I had no idea) and if you pick that mission, she barely even talks to you.
The story in guild wars 2 has so many loose ends. I would say it’s not deep enough, but in fact it’s so shallow it actually can’t be called a story at all.

i just remembered that i chose that beginning and it’s crusader deborah!?

So lame. Why couldn’t she have been a recurring NPC post Claw-Island if you went that path?
Why doesn’t she at least show up in your home instance?

Because anet never actually took the time to really put consequences in the personal story, it’s just extremely shallow.

Providing different paths almost always leads to shallowness, since developer’s rarely take the effort to account for the massive amount of different combinations of choices (I hear planescape torment is one of the few games to succeed in this regard). They could have made a far more immersive personal story if they just did away with the choice nonsense.

yeah it would have been nice if as you do your story your home instances change like your sister moves into your home instance and you can talk to her, or you get a tybalt leftpaw statue. >:C but all i have is a silly candy corn node
Probably would have also liked if the sister’s name changes depending on what nationality your character was when Logan asks. Like if you said you were Canthan, then the model is a Canthan female with a Canthan name, or if you said you were Elonian, then the same sort of thing for that.
Because treherne showed up and demanded all the screen time (and development time).
But seriously, they just probably didnt consider it, among the many things they didnt consider in the PS.
I think they should add lots of things to our home instance as the PS progresses. Certain NPCs and/or gravestones for certain chapters passed and how those chapters ended( a display of inventions for asura for chapters passed instead to better fit their culture), a memorial to your order partner, a trophy from the final boss (not saying because of spoilers), maybe even some trophies from the PS for the parts you actually did (none of this faren sent me mail as thanks for saving him on a character that never met him) with a crier to fill you in on any story you missed and show you any cutscenes if you would like to see them.
Sigh Thanks for making the forum account log out every now and then, great feature.
They should’ve just left the sister dead.
Veteran Seraph sister gets killed. You find out by whom, get revenge – immediate plot. Then find out she was raised by the big Z, maybe into a more powerful minion. Boom, you’ve got a hook, a personal motivation and a boss fight for the Pact half of the story.
No kitten reunion (“You!” that’s some way to adress your sibling*), no disappearing character. What you DO have is continuity.
*I know the problem is that you can’t cover every possible name with voice acting, but if there’s a problem you can’t fix, GO AROUND IT, not brute force it, hoping nobody notices. I knew they’d pull this “adress-yet-doesn’t-adress” silliness the moment I heard Deborah is alive and what suspension of disbelief I had was immediately shattered, before I even met her. My dear sister who I have no connection to. Not before, nor after.
Sadly, this isn’t Mass Effect <_<’
I know. Sigh.

They should let Bioware create the story, then we will be blown away.

Just don’t let Hudson and Walters near it…

I feel the same way about Lord Faren, Andrew/Petra, or Quint, your lifelong friend(s) who also have no role in your personal story after the initial quests.
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!

Exactly, this really bugged me.

Odd as it is, I found Petra on the 2nd floor of the Tavern…but I have the Street Rat storyline. I shouldn’t even know her, right? Yet she talks like she knows me.

HAHA, so true. Bioware are the masters of maintaining continuity in video games with voice overs while also allowing for multiple character names. They managed to find a system where they could apply a characters Rank (as opposed to accomplishment) to specific points in a story and use that to refer to the character instead of the characters actual name. Thereby allowing them to change how the character is referred to as the story progresses.

Thats easy its cause you used to beg around there and she gave you food scraps XD
I just replace Debroah’s name in my mind with who I want (namely my engi) but my engi is now a Whipers member. So that failed.

One situation among many. The writing all throughout Guild Wars 2 is pretty bad in my opinion, but this is one of those gems — and yeah the reunion scene was pretty… bad.
Most of my issues with GW2’s story though stems from Trahearne and his innate unlikability.
I most enjoy seeing Rytlock and Logan, especially when they’re together.

Huh, that actually makes sense.
It’s okay as long as Faren never, ever stops sitting inside my couch and telling me how much he’s “not sure about this”.
