ANet came through
I’m also glad they let us use in game currency for skins with no RNG tied to it.
On the other hand they are ugly skins compared to the RNG ones…
(Tin foil hat time YAY -_-)
Since these skins are not very appealing they might not get enough praise for not making them RNG (for once) they just might have done this on purpose so they could use some kind of excuse and say something like “it didn’t get much attention” (so in their eyes it would seem justifiable to bring back RNG since it makes them more money anyway) kinda like what they said about the added events around Halloween and that they didn’t get much feedback (most people don’t know they exist because little info was given) ; while the real reason for people not expressing their interest is that the skins are just not very attractive.

Please prove me wrong Anet because you’re going in the right direction.

Personally I’ve found a lot of the RNG skins ugly…or maybe underwhelming is a better word. I’ve been glad of it because it meant I didn’t worry if I could get them or not. To me the Sovereign skins are about on a par with most of the others and I like the worn gold look most of them have.
Sadly I suspect the main reason it hasn’t gotten much attention on the forum is because people are always far less likely to talk about things they like (unless someone else is attacking it). Look at the topics on the Gauntlet – lots of negative topics with replies from people defending it but relatively few positive ones. And other parts of the event like the balloon towers and torch runs only get mentioned at all when there’s a bug.
If someone started a topic talking about how much it sucks that anyone can get Sovereign weapons with gold and sprockets they earned in the Pavilion and they wish Anet would scrap this terrible “care bare” approach and go back to rewarding those willing to pour real money into the game for a stupid chance I bet you’d suddenly find the current system has a lot of fans.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Yeah I should probably jump in here. I personally think the skins are ugly and I have no desire to acquire them (I’m sure others love them though), but this system is much better than the RNG system used n the past. Players should be acquiring rewards from the content, not from RNG and silly grinds.
Across the board this update is a massive improvement. They’ve improved on almost every recurring element of the Living Story.

I’d like to add my voice of support for non-RNG weapon skins.
I won’t be buying them either, as I’m not interested in the look. I would, however, have bought some fused weapon skins had they been available outside of gambling boxes.
I hope that if there is not a good response to Sovereign weapons that ANet will not take it as a rejection of being able to buy them and re-institute random tickets from boxes.
