Ok maybe my charr is wearing off on me and I’m just really paranoid about anything human…but this update is seriously starting to creep me out.

First off the watch nights awaken my inner terminator fan, and any time you start replacing your military with robots I start getting worried. But now…I’m thinking something is up.

Ok so I recently gave a friend who plays the game with me a flute as a gift. We meet up outside the crown pavilion so I could listen to her try it out just for the fun of it. Went into the sound settings and turned the music volume completely down. As she was going though the scales I noticed something something really REALLY weird. About once every minute I swear you can hear very deep growling coming from the hole. I promise you I’m not crazy xD.

If anyone is weird like me and likes to randomly walk around the cities and listen to random NPC conversations, you will remember that in the time both before and during the construction of the crown pavilion, you can listen to workers commenting about “hearing strange noises” while working in the hole. You can read that convo along with others here; http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gossiping_Citizen#The_Great_Collapse

Beyond that, the entire story of the Great Collapse is very strange, with theories of conspiracy between the Seraph and the Shining Blade and even a possible cover up by the Shining Blade in terms of warning and evacuation of people when signs of the future collapse were evident (with apparently cracks all around the district). Some stories say that the queen saved the people of the district by successfully evacuating everyone while at the same time if you play the “streets” human story, Riot Alice says her father died in the collapse. With the tension seen between the Seraph (or at least Logan) and the Shining Blade over the somewhat carelessness of the Watchknights during the Opening Ceremony…a rehash of what ever happened the night of the collapse would fit well here….

Also in those linked convo’s one woman mentions how there is a theory that their was drakes in the sewers and that maybe caused the collapse. A very big drake? Or maybe even a dragon?

Beyond that, like with every update, it is very possible that the crown pavilion will be taken away….what better way then being blown up by whatever creepy thing is down there.

Idk guys but this entire thing is weird, I swear that hole is growling at me >_< I really think/hope that ANet will play up this theory in the future updates involving this new edition to DR. I think it would make for both excellent story telling and proving that the living story updates truly do make a permanent change on the world if DR faces some disaster due to whatever creepy things crawl below the city streets. There are plenty of disasters in the games lore, but very few we have been witness to…

What do you guys think? Am I crazy or is this even remotely intriguing?

Edit: One thing I also remebered….before the construction of the Pavilion…the site of the Great Collapse was guarded by the Shining Blade. The SB is the personal bodyguard to the queen and the royal family….why are they guarding the collapse when that would be more of the duty of the Seraph, the city guard?

$5 says it’s probably Primordus if it’s a dragon. He’s the only dragon who lives underground who could possibly pull it off.

I just went there and listened in.. I did hear what you mentioned, but it did not sound like growling or anything of the kind to me. It sounded more like a metal beam or column under a fair amount of stress.

I actually did record a video of it though, so anyone can come to their own conclusions.

Primordus rises up to the surface through the underground gauntlet area, completely destroying it and flies away out of the rim of the arena like a reborn phoenix. It seems this primal dragon has been angrily awoken by all our recent fighting below grounds! Making matters worse, it seems the great use of mesmer magic in the area seems to have sped things up! Powerful magic is always a tricky thing to control; especially so close to lava fonts…

This leads to a call to action for our heroes, as we once again find ourselves among the familiar congregation with The Pact at Fort Trinity, while the kingdom of man is once again tasked with rebuilding. It seems like our new zephyr kingdom alliance has paid off however, and it looks like we’ll be seeing some new help arrive, for a threat to Tyria and the skies is also a threat to the kingdom. While they wish they could provide more military might, they remind us that they are a nation of free spirits and thinkers, not warriors. But all hope is not lost, though! They know just the race that could help us, given the proper welcome. We get to see our new alliance come to fruition when we are finally granted an audience with the Tengu after the zephyrites vouch for our honor. Who else to spear head this first meeting than the newly elected Ellen Kiel and the hero?

We can only hope.

There are some strange sounds in and around the Queen’s Pavilion. Not sure if that’s foreshadowing, or just an attempt to replicate how such an immense structure would sound as sound echoes through it.

Growling no I didn’t hear that but while out and about in Queensdale killing Champions I did notice camera shake every so often…
So by deduction and reasoning if it ties into the growling noise then to quote something in the game….“By all Six Gods, what is that thing? It’s huge!”…..

Well it makes sense if its Primordius.

The pavillion is an altar of sacrifice, so that he may rise in Divinity all covered in glorius blood. How many thousands have died there since the queen started this “celebratory event”? They even created machines to make sure that only people are sacrified, not weak NPCs.

It would be cool if be burst out of the gauntlet destroying it and then made another big hole in queensdale that the destroyers flooded out of. The Aetherblades could use this weakness to attack DR and we have two big crazy things clashing that we the players have to keep control of.

This is of course a whole lot of kitten so i doubt it would happen but still cool to think about especially watching primordius burst out of the CP and then flies over the walls of DR landing in Queensdale making a big hole there.

Like that scene from free willy were he jumps the rock barrier but with a huge dragon and DR.

I don’t hear growling, or even the sound of metal stressing. To me it sounds like a gong being hit every so often.

I know this is from a different game, but it’s what I picture when I hear the sound of metal under stress or creaking.

Sounds of various gongs being struck

Primordius wouldn’t sack Divinity’s Reach itself; no, that’s what champions are for, destroyers of inestimable ferocity and power who seize the Crown Pavilion and try climbing out of the pit. The Seraph, the Shining Blade, and all who can be brought to the fight need to get into the fray to turn them back. Though it is only a temporary respite, help is needed to seal that problem up for good.

The proper race to help against Primordius would be the dwarves, having to go track down what’s left of them in the Depths and bring them to the fight once more. Or maybe they’re already under siege and fighting back fiercely, requiring aid in the single-minded devotion to breaking everything Primordius has to throw at them.

And that would require bringing Ogden into the story again, to at least tell the tale properly. “I was there, you know, when the Great Destroyer was felled so long ago…”

Perhaps the focus of the counterattack is a long, long forgotten Asura Gate complex near Yak’s Bend. A repurposed Molten Alliance digging tool is employed to reach some of the caves, which are swarming with destroyers, and every advance must be fought for until the chamber is breached, then the champion is fought and everything made quiet for the moment.

At least, until a plan is made to assault Primordius.

It really sounds like a gong, whether it’s intended to be the sound of a gong is another thing. It could be creatures banging against support beams in tunnels underground, it could be the sound of people fighting in the pavillion.. or maybe the sound doesn’t come from outside the pavillion at all?
