Colin Johanson on how arenanet measures success.

Which professions have the easiest time in P2 specifically? I’m having trouble with the 2nd part of this fight.
Staff +scepter/focus guardian by far, swiftness, condition cleaning, vigor, stability, immobilizations/line of warding, and blocks from aegis and focus 5, make p2 pretty manageable
Warrior lol zerk burst.
If it’s for the regular kill I think condition-based Necromancers actually have a pretty easy time of it. If you’re doing the achievement version, not so much since you can’t just kite her throughout the second phase. Running Scepter/Dagger and Staff will give you good ways to get the snare off you (while additionally snaring her instead), and you have a couple more utility-based condition tools as well like Well of Power or Plague Signet. Keep her snared and you cleared and you can pretty much kite in a circle around the room stacking bleeds on her while keeping in the safe spots. Run Signet of the Locust for your third utility to ensure you don’t have any issues falling behind while moving.
I did it with a pvt soldier’s warrior (berserker accessories) using a sword and shield with a defensive retaliation build. Phase 2 was basically walking backwards in a small circle between where the shadowfalls drop while just spamming 1 on Liadri. Never bothered to cleanse and Liadri’s damage isn’t really a threat, plus she kills herself from retaliation. Also got 8 lights this way. You can come very close to running out of time if you stall though.

ooo could you share with us your exact build?
thanks!
warrior with zerk sounds about right, Wethospu’s video pretty much nails it because you spend roughly 5 seconds in phase 2.

The only things that are really important are Spiked Armor for retaliation and Warrior’s Sprint to counteract cripple. Vigorous Return is for when you die to clones and instantly rally, something I never did. Furious Speed is really not that useful, but the only other useful thing would be +80 precision from Deep Strike.
The utility skills Endure Pain and Signet of Stamina are really only needed if you can’t stay out of shadowfalls. The only reason I took Endure Pain was for those situations when a rift pulls you into a shadowfall, which is a guaranteed death without a stunbreak/stability. For Great Justice is just for the DPS increase. If you’re not trying for 8 lights, you could probably swap it out for Dolyak Signet to take even less damage from Liadri.
For the secondary weapon set, I never used one. If you want to use one, you’ll need a condition weapon since you’ll be under weakness the entire time. I was playing around with a sword off hand just for impale, but a clone getting in the way was too common. With this in mind, if you want to use something like a rifle, you’ll want to take the piercing trait. Since you’d lose the movement speed bonus however, I don’t recommend it.
The only reason I had soldier’s runes is because my PVT set was my defensive shout healing build. You can swap this out for anything, condition damage + toughness would probably be best.
What’s really important is getting the shadowfalls down during phase 2. If you’re stuck in one, don’t bother running out. Dodge or Shield Stance it and you should be in a safe spot for the next shadowfall. A common error is dodging out of the shadowfall, just to be where the next shadowfall is going to drop and then you’re dead.

The ease at which you take her down for Light up the Darkness achievement is really mind boggling Healix and quite impressive to say the least. Did you ever try running a GS at the beginning of phase 2, popping endure pain and 100b to try and burst her down, and then concerning yourself with the crystals? I feel like dropping her HP lower at the start would help during the final moments, allowing you greater focus on hitting her with enough crystals, making the time limit less of a factor. How do you think something like that would play out? Also no food OR buffs….awesome job.
anything that can range, keep up swiftness and cleanse cripple
all you have to do is run clockwise to the next safe area, hit her 3 to 4 times ranged, then start running to the next safe area.
and a aoe ranged attack would be handy for the orbs, as they are obstructed for some reason to normal ranged dmg, or switch to melee
if you just run clockwise, the clones should not be a problem, unless the spawn right infront of u. they move to slow to catch up
For those who say warrior is a good choice for phase 2, why? I find if I melee Liadri at all something (vision of mortality?) downs me right away. Is there a way to completely separate her from the crowd? I do think warrior has an easy time in phase 1. I guess I have to ask, what is it a that GS warrior does in part 2 that can take her down?
Note: I did watch one video by a top notch warrior who gets off a 100b. I haven’t been able to do a single uninterrupted 100b vs her.

I originally did Liadri on a glass elementalist. Necrotic grasp in phase 1 basically did 10% of my health. In phase 2, her leap was 70% and her follow up attacks were basically enough to kill me. My elementalist is wearing full magic find gear though, so I was already at a huge disadvantage.
A warrior is my only alt and it’s the complete opposite, a defensive build. For comparison, necrotic grasp is like getting a scratch, which is then healed by healing signet + adrenal health. What really surprised me was the difference in phase 2 damage. Liadri’s leap went from almost 8k on my elementalist to around 1.5k on my warrior. I no longer had to care about getting hit.
Condition builds are going to win when it comes to Liadri, since conditions don’t care about weakness. The 100 blades speed kill video is highly reliant on not getting hit, because if you are, you won’t be able to put out the DPS.
I can’t say if a warrior is the best profession to do it on, but it is easy. This is what it looks like: http://youtu.be/hQKJBvN37DU and http://youtu.be/oi519Xk0lbw
thanks Healix.5819 for sharing!!!
after trying out your build (i modified a bit) i think my best was 20% before dying hahah.
i must try harder!

I can agree that (for me) phase 1 warrior is exceptionally easy, but phase 2 is a nightmare. I had no problem with Evon or Kiel T4 or any other living story achievement, but this I can’t get.
You mention being able to ignore the direct damage from Liadri, but I don’t think Liadri’s direct damage has ever been a problem. The issue is meleeing her while doing the (quite easy to memorize) phase 2 ring pattern while crippled but not getting hit by the visions or killed by an orb pull.
Edit: Crap I just did it. Made a liar out of myself. As long as I managed to hit all the nearby visions I would rally. Once I realized this it made things much easier. I think that was the key for me!

I’ll have to try out Healix’s build and strategy sometime. My Warrior build is quite similar to his, although I don’t have zerk equipment.
Another profession I’ve seen have an easy time with Liadri is Thief. Stealth gives you a window of opportunity to escape from Visions and throw Crystals without being attacked. They can spec to remove both Weakness and Cripple on a dodge, as well as leaving Caltrops behind that cripple and bleed Liadri, allowing you to run around just shooting her to death while she struggles to catch you.
thanks again!
i tried out your build (modified a bit maybe)
done it!
killed her!
now to try the 8 orbs one
thanks !!!!
