… all the quests the balloon pilots grant with a character that actually has the same level as the enemies?

You can definitely get far with the “overdue emissary” quest but what happens when your level 10 character is suddenly attacked by a level 10 veteran taskmaster stacking 7 confusion on you?

And what about level 10 Queen’s champions against a genuine level 10 character? I know that I had lots of trouble with a downleveled level 80 ele with equipment that has 3 attribute increases which you don’t have at level 10. So a level 10 would have +4 to vitality and not +4 to vitality and power and condition damage per item!

Not all of the queen’s champions have defiant. Go load up some rocks and knockdown spam them to death.

kind of a shame that they aren’t soloable from a story perspective, but i understand why a group event should be balanced for a group.

maybe you should get a group and then do a champion, because champions are not meant to be solo´ed even if some players do that alot. Especially for a lvl 10 character its just plain unreasonable to go up an solo a champion on same/below/over your own level.

Solo’ing the Queen’s Champions with a level 80 character is quite easy. Not sure how it’d be to do it on a level 10 character. You’ll most likely have to play it a lot safer, and stay much more at range.

I can, and have, solo’d the following Queen’s Champions on a ranger:

Champion of the Whirling Edge – The mobility you can get with a shortbow gives you a good way to get her “Exhausted” as she swings and misses. Five stacks and she falls over, letting you get free hits. Go for sword and land Bleed / Poison, using Hornet’s Sting to back out when she gets up.

Champion of the Lightning Blade – Tank with a greatsword and a pet with a knockdown. If they don’t teleport, you’re good so long as you keep yourself standing. Alternatively, same strategy as Whirling Edge, just without the Exhaustion giving you free hits. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Champion of the Stony Shield – Possible to do this, but I consider myself VERY lucky not to have been beaten down. Remember they reflect attacks.

Champion of the Heavy Hammer and Blazing Gun were not easy for me, but with a couple people it’ll work.

What class do you roleplay, a Thief with his hands and legs cut off? O.o

The balloon champions are easily soloable by 80’s even though some are quite annoying with all the knockbacks and crap. In terms of strenght they are little different than a veteran, its not a true champion (not even close).

For low levels, I think it depends on the class. Some low levels are just weak – some dont pick the “proper” skills or they havent unlocked them yet. I can understand if you need 5 level 10’s to beat a champion, compared to one 80 half-sleeping while waving his hand in the general direction of said champion.

I sort of had that situation yesterday in queensdale, where I saw maybe 3 going at it on a balloon champion in the distance, slowly getting his HP down. When I came in I probably killed it faster from 70-0% than they had done 80-70%.

i did the “block everything” one with a melee thief, which went as well as you’d expect until a mesmer showed up.

i did the one that spins like an idiot with my guardian, me and a small group of uplevels took it down after a while.

the one with the rifle and “devastating combo fields” i couldn’t even measure the challenge, he was locked in a wall by the mob of players when i got to him.

haven’t seen the others, if there are any.
