So I’m trying to get the 5 gambits achievement and, being a Guardian, I thought that Deadeye would be the easiest to do. After all we got plenty of defense from projectiles and enough blinds to keep negate his killshot. Then what you see in the screenshot happened.

….

What am I supposed to do? It has no obvious tell, I can’t dodge it (gambit) and he uses it quite often. Not to mention I have 3k+ armor. And it’s not like his other attacks don’t hurt. Should I pick Outnumbered instead of Exhausted and kill him with single target attacks from range (Scepter)? Any help is appreciated.

yeah the kick makes deadeye really hard now.

Don’t go crowd favorite on a guardian, its asking for trouble. You could try the scepter but i would recommend against it since it severely limits your defence vs killshots. The best way is to load up on a very high damage build so you can kill him as fast as possible. The Deadeye farming builds will still work.
Basically you want the Right Hand Strength grandmaster trait(radiance i think?), and the Unscathed Contender adept trait (virtues). Also Fiery Wrath (zeal adept iirc). the rest is up to you. Use (ideally berserkers) Sword/Focus, Staff, WoR, Judge’s, Save Yourselves. Trigger the ringmaster, then use Staff 4. When you enter the arena mash SY, Judges, WoR. Immediately use Sword 3 and Focus 5 after teleporting. If he uses Killshot use Virtue of Justice for the blind. Immediately chase after him with Sword 2 after his first teleport.

You look Norn so your racial elites wont help, but if you have the Mistfire Wolf it works pretty well in that fight. (Summon it before triggering the ringmaster, then trigger ringmaster, then use Staff 4.)

Sigil of Bloodlust and appropriate food will help a lot too.

The only thing you can really do about the kick atm is more blinds and try to position yourself so he wont kick you into a mine.

Like the above, you want to use a high DPS build, something with 10/30/x/x/x to maximize sword/focus damage. The goal is to kill Deadeye very quickly. I’d recommend all gambits with the exception of Squeamish. As the combat starts you want to position yourself between deadeye and the quaggan, making sure to face away from it while attacking deadeye. Drop WoR immediately once you’re on top of deadeye to mitigate most of his damage and make sure to blind only when he casts killshots.

Be sure to precast staff #4 as you’re going in, but switching and opening with Sword#2 to get in to position. You may need to practice a bit if you’re not used to the play style. I’m certain you can do it other ways, but this is – essentially – how I did it. The quaggan tends to make things more complicated (you have to heal yourself, especially if the quaggan takes any hits), but is generally a joke if he receives no damage.

They added a kick to deadeye? There was no point in that since they killed the whole gauntlet anyway.

On topic: You have way too much armor and need more DPS. You want to kill him as fast as possible to limit the number of times that he can attempt his one-shots.

Don’t fight him from ranged. One mistake and you’re dead. At melee, if you’re out of blinds and he’s about to kill-shot you, you can get up real close and take far less damage. Use sword and focus.

Right before you enter the arena, use staff 4 to give yourself 12 stacks of might. But don’t use the staff in the arena. (In fact you can use staff 4, then quickly switch weapon sets so that you have sword-focus and sword-torch in the arena in case you need more damage as torch 4 hits pretty hard.)

Use sword #2 to teleport to him and blind him at the same time.

Sword 3 absorbs all his projectiles except for kill shot, it’s really effective.

Focus 5 either does a lot of damage or mitigates a lot of damage. Focus 4 blinds (I rarely used Focus 4 before the QG-killing nerf, but with the kick it’s perhaps useful?)

You can use Judges Intervention for emergencies, where he teleports too far away for sword #2 to work, or if you don’t have time to see where he teleported to because of your camera positioning.

I liked the crowd pleaser gambit because often when deadeye teleported, the quaggan would take its time to get to you.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I’ve finally completed every Queen’s Gauntlet achievement and you helped me greatly

Here’s the setup I used for those wondering:

30/30/0/0/10
increased spirit weapon duration is a must
GS/ Sword+focus
Shelter, Shield of the Avenger, Wall of Reflection, Judge’s Intervention, Renewed Focus

It took 3 attempts because he kept oneshotting me with a 15k kick, but I got lucky on the 3rd try and blinded it.

Interesting… what did you use shield of the avenger and shelter for? These two indicate that you were fighting deadeye from range, but it seems you used melee weapons.

I fought him melee with all gambits except Crowd Favorite. Anyways, since his attacks hurt a lot Wall of Reflection and sword 3rd skill weren’t enough to protect me, so I brought SoA and popped it right ontop of him. The shield blocks the projectiles even when they are fired INSIDE the bubble. When he teleported, I used the shield command attack (had the trait that didn’t make them disappear on attack) to reposition it. With the shield lasting 30s, this made the fight extremely easy provided you could blind/block the overkill kick. Shelter was used to heal while blocking his Volley (don’t confuse it with Sanctuary).

wow.. thanks for the reply… I did not know that Shield of the Avenger worked like that! And you’re right, I confused Shelter with Sanctuary

anyway, congrats on the achieve!
