Deadeye Dunwell
Count to two, then dodge.
If you’re doing Gambits on him for the achievement[s], then I suggest grabbing as many interrupts as you can, while also having good damage output. Summons are very, very useful here (Fire Elemental Powder + Ogre Pet Whistle + Elite). Make sure you have an invuln (or two) ready in case you panic.
Dodge the one hit kill and be careful when u walk to him. I suggest dodge rolling against an edge.
Not going for gambits on this one… the ooze is the easiest for this I think. Only killing to unlock the next boss. I will try to dodge… but seems hard to time… if you do it too early and then he shots when dodge ended it might be a problem ha ha.
Does he sometimes attack “summons”? I could use turrets as engineer. If they take the headshot(and also can do damge) it would be nice.
If you have a Mesmer or a Sylvari (or ideally a combo) laying around at Lv.80, you can finish Deadeye as well as the 5 Gambit achievement with absolute ease. Blocks/Aegis/Reflects all don’t work on his Killshot, but Blinds/Stun/Daze seems to do just fine. If you don’t have reliable access to any of those, stay as close to him as possible and just keep hurting him. His Killshot at point-blank barely does any damage so you don’t need to worry about that too much. Guardians are good at flashing to targets, so they’re a good choice too.
*Edit- This was the video I used when I was looking for tips for High Stakes Gambler . I just used Take Root to negate a Killshot and also the turrets hurt him way more than those useless exploding puppies did. By far the easiest in tier 3.
I haven’t played my Engi too much, so I’m not sure how good they are at shutting down a ranged attack somehow.

It does less damage at close range? Did not know this… so I can just stay near him and don’t even need to interrupt him(if all skills should be on CD)?
Might use some speed skills then to try to get near him and a mix with some interrupt and CC skill.
i haven’t fought him yet.
just beat the 4 ppl gang (tier 2 boss) and gonna fight subject 7 (ooze multiplier) next.
does he does his kill shot often?
or, every time he got some distance, he will attempt to kill shot?

Every 10-20 seconds he’ll teleport to the edge of the field somewhere and start up a Killshot which gives you a second or two to react before you die. The floor is filled with mines so it’s not as simple to just run right to his face.

owww thats real nasty!
so we need some long range interruption skills?
deng, what skills my warrior can use?
Really expensive ha ha. All that tries. The mines are really annoying. I might try another class if blind really helps and there is perma ranged blind possible at long range with other classes.
Usually it was always the 3rd boss that was hardest(and other bosses including endboss easier) at tier1 and tier 2. This time it seems boss 3 is easy and that 2nd one now harder and also the endboss from what I have heard.
Make sure to get as close as possible. It hardly damages you up close.
Otherwise yea…dodge and mind the mines.
Is it normal that mines sometimes disappear and then reappear? This also seems annoying… always run into a mine because of this…
If you’re fighting Dunwell with 5 Gambits as a Mesmer, try running 20/20/5/25/0 with Feedback, Mantra of Disruption, and Blink/Signet of Domination/Echo.
For Elite, get a summon (Mistfire Wolf or Racial, if you don’t have any, just use Time Warp).
Run GS + Sword/Focus.
Before the fight starts, consume a Fire Elemental Powder, then an Ogre Pet Whistle. If you have a summon, now is the time to use it. Also charge your Mantra.
As soon as the fight starts, hit her with a 4/2/3 combo on Greatsword, followed by a Feedback (can use mid-combo).
Auto-attack until you see him line up his sights and a line appears (it may not appear, so watch his animation). As soon as that happens, cast one Mantra charge on him. He will proceed to auto attack a few times or just blink next to you. As soon as he does that, press 2 on your greatsword, then shatter (F1) and weapon swap.
Cast your 4 down as soon as possible, to reduce damage taken, then cast your 5 + 3. Hopefully, Dunwell is really low at this point. Use Time Warp. Wait for your Warden to fully attack, then shatter (F1 or F2) and cast all available skills (except utilities). Swap to Greatsword and start auto-attacking.
Dunwell should teleport away. Keep an eye on his animations/the line to interrupt again. Continue casting all available GS skills.
If Dunwell still isn’t dead, you need to get more damage. Try asking a Guardian to Empower you before going in. You can also stack up Bloodlust before going in.
will warrior long bow skill 4 blind stop his kill shot? O_O
No. You can only evade/invuln it.

deng. i guess i need to warhorn 5 for vigor and spam dodge then. ):

haven’t tried blinds myself but most people in this thread said they would work – only one said differently. so before giving this idea up, try it out ;-) with longer range you can easily reach across the field with bow #4 as a warri. I’ve heard shield blocks work against this attack, if they don’t try to reflect, but I have no idea, might be worth a try though as you won’t have many other options to interrupt/blind him.
reflects/blocks definitely don’t work though, tried that on my mesmer and guardian because I just couldn’t believe ANet would be so stupid as to disallow reflection skills against projectiles.
Yea I beat him on my first try wasn’t really that challenging for me but I read his buff before starting. Said he did less dmg in close range… soo that’s what I did.. I meleed / casted phantasms and it was relatively easy.
I beat him after about 3-7 tires on my warrior. Endure Pain (invulnerable) avoided the damage, but Shield Block (3s block) didn’t work any time I tried it. Your best bet is to get into melee range ASAP and hit him for the ~5-10sec he stands there, before he tele’s out, then either cast an invulnerability skill or get ready to dodge.
I’m not 100% sure if it was the same skill, a different skill, or maybe the kick from a mine, but usually right after he used his kill shot as I was trying to get close again, I’d get thrown back/down. So a stun breaker or stability may also be useful, but I was able to do it without one. I did not try blinding him though.
i pretty much quit after facing this guy nd had him glitch on me or something i only have TWO dodges he shot 6 kill shots in a row how the hell does one dodge that
