Guild Wars 2

I’ve been working on the gauntlet for a couple of days now with my only lvl 80 – an ele. I’ve manged to flounder my way through the gauntlet up to the second to last boss (the one with chomper). Now I’ve been working on this boss for quite a while, and I cannot seem to even be able to deny more than 2 meats before I die.

If any ele vets out there would please post guides/tips/help of any sort of how to do this boss, the last boss, and the gambler achievement I would be most grateful.

Someone succeded to do it with a mix of knight/berserker set
trait something like 20/30/0/10/10
D/D and spam Earth2 to cripple, Air5 and Earth4 to knockback when you can’t reach the meat before chomper. Air4 (disable autotarget) to run to the meat.

I’ve tried it without succeding, also with a classic 30/30 arcane water

I did the gauntlet in full magic find gear and no consumables (waiting on that mf and crafting update), but I didn’t try the extra achievements (I just did it for the pet). My spec was usually 0/30/10/20/10 fresh air using S/D, though for liadri I did go 30/30/0/10/0 and only used the fiery greatsword for the 2nd part.

Chompers never really gave me any issues. I would occasionally get the meat ahead of him, and by the time he died, he got about 3 pieces. If you’re not going for the achievement, the dog just basically runs around eating meat, as long as you don’t take it. You can use snares during this time to get more than 1 piece of meat up at a time, causing the dog to run around.

I did chompers again for the achievement, just now. At first I was going to cheat. If you can get in 2x in a row, you can start the match with a stack of food, allowing you to quickly kill the dog. It didn’t count though, but he was close to a meat, so he may have gotten it as he died.

Using S/F, I did it legit. A little RNG is involved though, since meat can and was occasionally thrown on top of chompers – not very fair. Using the focus, water 4, 5, air 4, 5 and earth 4 can all be used to try to stop chompers from reaching meat and should be used as soon as the meat is thrown. Once you collect around 4 meat, get within melee range of the norn and use swirling winds to negate any further meat being thrown. With the damage bonus from those 4 meat, you should be able to quickly kill chompers with fire 2,3.

Using the Glyph that adds a 5 sec Cripple was the way I did it (make sure when you cast it you are in Earth Attunement though), and using the other Cripple/Chill effects from the D/D weapon set. Also, 15 in Earth will perform an AoE Cripple when you switch to Earth Attunement.

From what I understand, once you eat the 4th meat, it stuns you, but this didn’t happen to me. It is possible I had Stability at the time, but I’m not sure.

It is pretty pointless fighting them until you have 3-4 stacks, so save your high damage skills and focus on dodging the CC and keeping the dog controlled. As soon as you pick up the 3rd meat, start hammering the dog, Chill it when the 4th meat is thrown and you shouldn’t have any problems finishing it off, and then killing the Norn.

Personaly i just went with the bog standard 0/10/0/30/30 d/d, lf and armor of earth, glyph of storms(cavaliers/kinghts mix).
I just kept damaging them both, taking meats whenever i could, and they ended up dropping almost simultaneously.
