Why did the design team think it was a good idea to place the chest some place that can
be grabbed by only one person who did not even help with the event at all?

Great idea for an event but horrible designed an thought out.

I’ve never had a problem getting the chest from the overdue emissary quests.

Once you get credit for the event, the emissary is considered saved, and you’re able to run ahead. You don’t have to wait for him/her to reach the tower before you go up it. The gate will open as soon as the event is credited, so you should be able to proceed quickly to the top.

If you’re still having trouble, you may find it easier to get the chest after a queen’s champion quest or an Aetherblade attack quest instead. These roughly cycle, so if you don’t get the chest after the emissary quest, talking to the ballon pilot a few minutes later should get you one of the other versions.

Yea, what Anakita said, the Overdue Emissary event finishes at the base of the tower. Then the gates open and you can run up and get what’s inside the chest.

What I WOULD criticise with the Balloon Tower events though is that the Champions were set to spawn so far from the tower. Quite often I ran up to the tower guide, that NPC then told me to defeat the champion and I said ‘yes’ to trigger the event. Of course, he was quite a distance away and people were camping there waiting so he was dead before I could even say ‘cake’ and I got no credit (justly so, but still it meant waiting for the next tower event).

That was the most annoying thing while I was chasing down the various Champions of the Queen.

lol, it is only one chest per tower, ever. There was one tower that bugged for me.

I think you’ve misunderstood what the chests are. The chest in the tower isn’t from the escort event. That is just one of the possible events (along with a queens champ or aetherblade attack) that can be blocking access to the tower. Other people opening it makes no difference to you. If you can’t open it it’s because you’ve already opened the chest on that tower and it’s one time only. 1 tower= 1 chest.

This is correct. It’s only once per tower. If the chest is open already, it’s because you opened it already.

If that’s the issue for the OP, it’s not that another player is grabbing the chest, it’s that if you repeat events for the same tower you only get the chest the first time. I assumed the OP was having trouble getting the chest initially, because yeah, it’s a one-time thing.
