Guild Wars 2

This is by no means a comprehensive guide, rather, it’s a path I found that works.

• The first thing I do is invite an offline friend (XXXXX.1234) to my party – even though, clearly, they cannot accept, this acts as a workaround to the inability to target an enemy while “not in a party”. I found it very helpful to target chomper so in case of a misclick, I could easily target him again with the key binding.

I start with berserker armor, trinkets, and weapons. I use a sigil of ice (30% chance to chill on my shortbow, which is really the only weapon I had to use. I went 20 into marksmanship for piercing arrows and predator’s instinct. I went 30 into skirmishing for trap potency, quick draw, and pet prowess. I went 20 into wilderness survival for shared anguish and wilderness knowledge.

For all my failed runs, my build used signet of the hunt. Do not use this signet. Replacing that with spike trap made all the difference. I used lightening reflexes, frost trap, and spike trap. I had sword and warhorn on swap.

I used lifesteal food and power maintenence oil along with the rata sum crit chance buff.

• start the fight by using call of the wild against chomper as well as your snow owl’s chilly utility skill—switch to snow hound for the knockdown / chilly howl and keep the pets on a good timing as their chills are very helpful

• immediately switching to shortbow and start autoattacking

• keep an eye on strugar, when he throws the meat, get in front of chomper (should be chilled) and place one trap — eat the meat, continue attacking

• repeat this action, keeping a close eye on what strugar is doing while staying in front of chomper with traps—do not hesitate to cripple chomper with your shortbow but save the concussion shot for a last resort

• IMPORTANT: When chomper gets to approximately 1/2 health, use the elite Rampage as One so in the event of a stun attack from strugar, you can DPS chomper uninterrupted

That strategy worked for me very well. I hope that helps anyone out there who might be struggling. Ranger is very well suited for this fight having access to so much chill and traps. Good luck and happy hunting!
