I don’t understand why everyone is complaining about farming or the new “grind” spots. Take this as an opportunity to make some money that you’ve never been able too, people complaining “problems” to Anet that they already are well aware off does nothing.

“Nerf Deadeye farming rofl”
“Broken game, champions need nerf”

Are you angry that other players are able to make more money than you? Are you mad that you’re not able to do what they can? You think this is a concept of the rich get richer and the poor gets poorer? No it has nothing to do with any of that, it’s the fact that the players that are willing to work towards a goal such as a legendary are willing to put the time and effort into the game to achieve it.

Now compare a person farming 10 hours as to you just playing the game casually for 2-3 hours. How in the world are you able to make the same amount of money as the person dedicated to farming? How do you think that your green gear compares to his fully equipped exotic/ascended set? Those players farming deadeye and farming champion runs are the players that are willing to play that part of the game to get what they want in the game.

If you know about deadeye farming and you know about champion farming, why aren’t you doing it too? If they’re willing to put in time to get what they want, you should also be able to put in time to get what you want. Stop complaining about how it isn’t fair to do this or that because you can’t do it. You chose your class and it excels at an area where other classes don’t. That’s the game, and grinding the game to get some gold also is part of the game.

Nobody but yourself can tell you not to do it if you know about it. In the end you just don’t want to do it, so you believe others also shouldn’t be able to do it. That’s horrible logic, don’t blame people that stock up gold will “crash” the market, there are various reasons as to why prices go up and down ALL the time, don’t blame one reason you believe is a “crash”. “Crashing” the market means nearly every item is lowered significantly to a point where anyone is able to afford them. An item dropping less than 10% isn’t considered crashing, mats go up and down all the time because people farm them and people use them, it’s just which group of players farm them more or use them more.

Lastly, everyone started at the same pace for the most part, nobody got godly in one day so learn to stop complaining on how it’s unfair for thieves to farm deadeye and make 15g+ an hour, or warriors/guardians/mesmers can farm deadeye for gold so quickly. Because I’ll tell you one thing, those players that are farming the current deadeye are probably experienced and put time into the game to get to where they are today for sure, so stop crying about how it’s unfair for them to do that and you can’t.

Nobody’s stopping you from making their classes, or finding new ways to tackle on that challenge. That’s always been how video games work, the creators make something so that players can find a way to play around it It’s always up to us as the players to find new meta’s to play around a certain obstacle in the game.. Just so it happens that people are able to farm Deadeye so well, is because that’s just how good they played out that part. Hint hint, it’s not an exploit if it’s part of the game, you need Deadeye for achievements, and if it’s an exploit, what’s the “exploit” behind killing a guy repeatedly? It’s already been said that this isn’t permanent, so why do you make it seem like 1-2 more week(s) of this is going to change the game so drastically that it’ll never be the same again?

Deadeye has already been nerfed to a point where you need certain builds and a certain skillcap for you to continuously farm him well.

Champion runs are a way for players to group up, better for the community than just a game where one person can do only so much in PvE.

In the end, if you don’t like the new update, it’s probably you just not being able to do anything that this update has to offer, but breaking news, this game isn’t only just you.

I have no complaint about regular farming such as Champs, or COF.

The only thing broken I found is Deadeye doesn’t have DR with its rewards. That’s why its so popular. As its easy with certain builds and doesn’t suffer from doing something repetitively that farming typically penalizes you for in every case in the game if you don’t rotate.

Beyond that, you have a valid point.

Players who grind are less likely to buy gems with real money. Which means less money for new content.

They are also the players who want a gear treadmill. Gear treadmills gate content and slowly kill mmo’s.

If you’ve done your research, you would know that the money in buying gems doesn’t help fund the game directly for newer content. This has been brought up months ago.

It’s true that a DR value would lessen the popularity of Deadeye farming, but it still wouldn’t matter with the situation at hand. People will still continually complain and whine because they’re unable to do something that they put no effort into.

What might that be, I’ve played many games and the GW2 community has been one of the best and mature communities of any game. If they have a valid argument or point to bring up, they’ll have reasonable statements.

The only toxicity in this community are the newbs that come in thinking that this is a game where if they put in 2-3 hours a week, they should be on the same level as players who put 5-10 hours a day.

It’s pooled together to fund more than one Ncsoft game. But some money form each of those games does go towards funding GW2.

Buy not buy gems, that player is only costing Anet/Ncsoft money for development.

GW2 is the most profitable game for Ncsoft. They will make sure GW2 gets it’s share of the money. After they pay themselves of course.

This made me laugh so hard I fell from my chair. Guess what: I am farming Deadeye. I used the gold I made to convert them to gems and upgrade to Digital Deluxe Edition and buy a character slot. But I woul never never ever buy gems with real money. Why? Because I am to poor to be able to afford only 10€ to put into something. So I actually am pretty grateful that farming right now is profitable and I could get those things now and don’t have to wait a year until I farmed enough…

And second: I hate gear treadmills. That’s why I played GW1 and it’s why I play GW2.

So don’t group people together. Thanks.

I’m okay with farming. What I’m not okay is ignoring the game’s mechanics for the sake of obtaining gold. The ember farm? Seriously?

If anything that’s a fail on ArenaNet’s part. Make champions difficult to reach and to defeat, for crying out loud, and not just Veterans with more health and damage; don’t throw them willy nilly at zergs because the zergs will always win. Put them at the end of long dynamic event chains that have some sort of impact on the map. Make them failable. Make them rewarding through loot and, more importantly, through victory; not solely because you got 70 gold in a day.

Don’t want to derail the thread too badly though, and very well written by Jeffery: those who want to farm for better gear/whatever – and have the time – should be perfectly well allowed to do so.

Jeffrey, I couldn’t agree with you more. I would’ve thought that nearly all experienced gamers would know by now that people will always find some obscure or even delusional reason to whine about a certain aspect of the game. At the end of the day, if you want the shiny shiny greatsword of dazzling lights or even just hard earned gold; you have to invest an amount of time working towards it.

Sigh, But the gem store does make money for ANET, and that money is used for future releases. The issue is that onshi implies that if you don’t buy gems with real monies you aren’t supporting the further development of the game. That’s simply not true, in order to get people to buy gems with gold someone may have to buy gems with real monies, and sell it to people with gold. The main point of contention is if ANET is padding the gem → gold market or if it is a controlled market with players selling and buying.

There’s nothing wrong with grinding for gear – its just the act of doing the most lucrative content over and over and over again. Its tedium, its boring, its the opposite of skillful play rewards. If I wanted gold I would grind for it as well. There is much harder content which has a higher variable reward rating, however why risk it when you could just forge farm or deadeye farm?

But back to DR – yeah deadeye should get some DR placed – but I don’t think we should put down people who choose to grind. Its just another play style – as long as it doesn’t hurt you / your play style – it should be ok / allowable.

I could care less about destroyers, embers, FG, that’s all legit and totally fine with me.
But Deadeye…
Its classlocked, or close to it, I’d like to see an Engi make as much off Deadeye as a guardian does with little to no effort. I play ranger, and even with 100% zerkity zerk and the most efficient traits, weapons and skills I can’t do it nearly as easy as the more efficient classes. There is no DR and really no difficulty if you are playing certain classes.

Oh please, don’t try to make Dunwell farming sound so noble.

Yeah, I’ve been doing it too, and yes it’s absurdly profitable, but I’m not going to sit here and pretend that I think it actually makes sense for such a pure currency engine to exist in the game like this.

I doubt they’ll be adding DR for deadeye since it’s out at tomorrow’s patch anyway. It’s fine if farmers want to farm. It may be unhealthy to play 10 hours a day but that’s your choice (and sometimes mine too, lol).

What I dislike is the inflation, but that’s not the farmer’s faults it’s Anet’s. (woot apostrophes!)

More crafting material drops = good.
More raw currency drops = bad.
More cosmetic options= good.
More time gated endgame gear= bad.

Hats off to all the ones who stood before me, and taught a fool to ride.

Incorrect, the only thing being removed tomorrow is the Opening Ceremony instance for the LS for the festival. Everything else will continue to remain until Sept 3rd.

But I doubt it will get DR during that time, since its here for only a short bit more, i don’t think they are even gonna bother with it till next year.

People who trade gold for gems contribute just as much to Anet’s/NCSoft’s financial success for 2 reasons:

1) The gems in question are still being bought – just by another person. They aren’t getting free gems, they’re trading gold for gems that were bought for real money.

2) More players buying gems with gold (demand) leads to higher gem prices, which in turn leads to more players buying gems to sell for gold due to the higher prices.

I believe Anet fixes the price of gems. And just says it is based on a free market.
