I’m sorry if this has been asked already and I missed it in scanning through the topics. But I was wondering, how do you get the Champion of the Whirling Edge/ Stony Shield/ etc. to become available to fight? Sometimes I’ll find them standing there, and they won’t have the dialogue to trigger the fight. I found the Lightning Blade, which I needed for the achievement, but I couldn’t fight him, and I was on a time crunch so I couldn’t wait around.

They are random events to unlock the balloon towers. Getting them to occur/being the champion you need is entirely random. You can pretty much wait at a tower or couple of towers and complete events till it spawns. Especially if you see the champion you need on the map/vicinity of that tower.

Just talk to the guy at the ballon tower to start the next event when the doors are closed.

The order is always: escorting guest, pirates, champ. And the 5 champs just cycle one after another. They always spawn at the same location.

Camp one tower for roughly 20-30 minutes and you get all 5 champs.

each balloon has 3 events that happen randomly. 1 is the escort another is the pirate ship and the last is the champion, so if you dont get the champion right away wait around at the balloon. The event spawn every few minutes, so its just a matter of time till it cycles to the champ event

If you’re extremely lucky. Otherwise you could be there for hours. It’s better to port around 3 or 4 different champions every 5 minutes and hang about if there’s one you need. Doing the 30 towers achievement first/at the same time seems to be the best idea because you should get a few champions just from doing that.

Unfortunately, this is not true. The 5 champs do not cycle. Rather, it seems random.

I was running around earlier and found one with a hammer, me being a level 68 ele I said why not. And I went for it…. and I got stomped. Wham bam thankyou maam. It was over

Hmmm, if the Champion cycle is not in repeating order, then I must have gotten really lucky on the first day (or it was changed in a patch) because I just waited at the more North Balloon in Metrica and it cycled around the Champions without repeating until all 5 were summoned.

yes, if the event to escort the emissary is done, just wait and talk to the pilot again and you may get Aetherblade attack or Champion but it cycles pretty fast from what I have seen. Just trying to get the Balloon achievement will probably get you all of the Champions.

according to dulfy, this one tower in Queensdale spawns all of the champs so just camp this one tower.
