I started off really kitten ed off when Kiel won, the Livestream showed great new content that’d be temporary, and how we’re never going to see the Fall of Abaddon (and likely not much more in the way of GW1 lore in the future releases of GW2).
Then I started to think. They are doing a release 2 weeks from now as the GW2 1 year anniversary and apparently have a lot in store for us. I am extremely kitten ed off that Ellen won and we won’t be seeing the Abaddon Fractal, but as many pointed out maybe that’s a good thing.
I think all of our expectations may have been more than what the fractal would have been. I’d love if Anet at least released plans or ideas they had for the fractal so we can at least stop guessing as to what it would have been, but either way live goes on.
I am interested in seeing what sort of permanent stuff we’ll be getting in the next couple of months and where they decide to take the game. Colin cleared up a lot of my fears and worries in the post he made here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/jubilee/So-EVERYTHING-in-this-patch-is-temporary/first#post2560578
and it appears that a lot of what we all loved that is “temporary” now, will be returning every now and then. But the way others have put it, take a look at this being one of the last big temporary releases that will recur every year or so. And now that they’ve established the annual(not confirmed) return of these events we can start seeing some new permanent changes.
I’m excited to see where this goes – regardless of missing out on Abaddon’s fractal. What do you guys think? Excited for the new patches? Hopeful things will change for the better in 2 weeks?
My question is, since the announcement of more “permanent” changes are coming to Gw2 in the coming months, are we still going to see them in the same 2 week cycle? Or are we going to continue to get 2 week updates but also larger ones that take longer?

I think it’s good that Kiel won because of the sheer amount of hype surrounding Abbadon. I feel that the Abbadon fractal would have been a disappointment because of that hype, no matter how well done it actually was. It could be the best fractal ever and there would be people saying it didn’t live up to their expectations.
Whereas… everyone has been saying Thaumanova is boring and won’t be any good, meaning that it will very likely exceed expectations.

That’s a good point. I am hoping we eventually will get to see something related to more GW1 lore – UW, FoW, Fall of Abaddon, done right. I’m also hoping that We eventually get to see Cantha again because I think it’s pretty BS that they removed the Canthan district of Divinity’s Reach even though the Elonian one got to stay.
I don’t even care that much what the other fractal was, but from judging Anet’s previous and glorious dungeon design Thaumathing going to be tons of asura/golem bashing…just what this game needs more.
And don’t hold your breath in seeing more great lore, skypirates is where all the hype lies.
Anet was paying attention to the posts about the chaos rift in the mist. And how it could create effects outside the fractal. It’s going to be very interesting it see what those effects are.
This thread has nothing to do with the Jubilee, either take it to the politics sub forum where it will be buried soon (thank god) or discuss the future of the Living World in the Living World thread.
