So, as the attached screenshot shows, I’ve completed all of Queen’s Gauntlet but this one achievement. And to be honest, I find it somewhat unreasonable.

Here’s why – It takes so… SO long to hit her with 8 orbs. If it wasn’t for the time limit, it wouldn’t be a problem. But getting 8 orbs, then killing her within the time limit… I just can’t do it.

Any way that repeat attempts on her could be without a time limit? Or am I alone in thinking this needs to not be time-restricted?

The biggest issue is dealing with crystals not vanishing. The time limit on how long they last and grabbing them is very infuriating at times for it is extremely short.

You have to pull off a “stacking” technique where sometimes you can get 2-3 crystals from one light portal by luring shadow clones that are very close to each other. If done right you will get multiple crystals from one portal. Pray you can grab them all and toss quickly before risk getting yourself nuked. Liadri will continue to aggro you so when you grab crystals, just toss them immediately for she should often get herself within range of being detected.

I like the challenge, but the one thing that drives me nuts is how short the crystals last once they’re spawned. It boils down to getting lucky that you can grab them safely AND quickly.

I see you have a warrior so I would like to point out this:

Warrior Trait Bug Issue: Picking up crystals puts you on weapon swap cool down for warriors using Fast Hands trait repeatedly. Drop that trait for it can be a major hindrance in switching weapons when you really need to.

To be quite frank getting the crystals up in time is frustrating at best.

At a certain point you will jsut run out of dodgerolls or even condition removals.
It’s not unreasonable. It doesn’t really feel possible. And i’ve done pretty much every single achievement to date.

To the point it getting frustrating after 67 tries i do wonder if it was even worth the effort.

Killing on my necromancer is easy, but actually doing the 8 orb thing on a necromancer which has absolutely no vigor feels impossible

Her enrage is 3 minutes!

On another note, I did manage to get this Achievement but I noticed from my frapse that I only threw 7 orbs and not 8; I’m not sure if this is a bug or if the tooltip is just wrong. I was 2:30 into the fight when I won, but I am also a Thief which makes it quite a bit easier using Stealth.

Could you share the recorded video youd made for the orb achievement attempt.

I have literally done it 60-70 times for like hours with no success on my necromancer.

Can you give any tips for necros? During the “phase 2” I cant avoid her AoEs fast enough because I run out of dodges and necros have no mobility. Also, during “phase 1” I get down to about 1/3 HP because of Liadri’s necrotic grasp. Is there any tricks to avoiding it?

Stay around the middle on Phase 2,
Try to use the openings.
WHenever possible fear chain her up with a 30/30/10 or 30/20/20 build.
necrotic grasp; still like in GW1 can apparantly be dodged by strafing not neccessarily needing to use your V button to ddoge but just strafing around can prevent taking damage aswel.

I can try explain it a little later today, but i’ve been doing i for straight up 5 hours with no success, i’m absolutely frustrated at how impossible they amde this for necromancers.

If you tap strafe quickly when not close to Liadri, her attack will miss you most of the time. Try using some sort of defensive ability when you get close to her to toss Orbs of Light to minimize the damage you take.

And yes I’ll see if I can render that video.

Yeah, I did Ooze.

I actually completed… Uhh….

Blobs, Schmobs
Humble Victor
Risk Taker
Triple Threat
Hight Stakes Gambler
Queen’s Gauntlet Champion

All of those by doing 5 gambits on Ooze. Was really easy, beat ’em first try.

I used the following gambits.

Exhausted
You cannot dodge roll and will always have zero endurance.
Frailty
All damage from attacks is increased.
Hamstring
You will be crippled for the entire fight.
On Fire
You will have the fire debuff for the entire fight.
Squeamish
All damage you do is reduced.

EDIT : As for people having difficulty with Liadri, I beat her fairly easily on warrior with Hammer/X+Shield. Bring Stomp and Fear Me. Basically just separate her slightly from her shades, then beat her to a pulp.

When shades come near, use earthshaker, followed by staggering blow, followed by stomp… when they come back earthshaker → staggering again, and finally fear me.

Plenty of time to mostly straight DPS her. Shades are largely ignored due to being CC’d away.

I didn’t attempt it on my warrior. I did that on my thief.

If I HAD to do it on warrior, I’d do basically the same thing as I did for Liadri.

Stomp/Fear Me/Staggering to keep the smaller ooze away so I don’t kill them accidentally.

I made a post in the thread about Blobs Schmobs. I did it on my Warrior. Knight’s Armor/Zerker Trinkets. Typical 30/10/0/0/30 build. Axe/Sword (5% more damage with Sword in OH) and GS. I just used HB as it came off cooldown and the rest was just using Axe. Use Impale too just for a bit of extra damage. FGJ and Rage Signet up whenever possible.

I just did it as a Necromancer…

It’s unreasonably hard without a doubt.
And if arenanet so would do and nerf it down to 6/7 that would seem suffice.

One of the main things, because we Reaaaaly lack mobility and vigor as necromancers is to; equip staff, offhand dagger , well signet and condition removal in death shroud.
This way you will never ever have cripple and can actually managbe to get a fair ton of cripple present on her aswel so you can kite her around.

When there’s a mark on the floor for the illusions try to run left and right
Because as is, in P2 the map is competlely covered, but in pretty much every scenario the left and right side of where it’s supposed to drop will ussually be free of any aoe.

I’ll try and mash up better help later on, but this is the best i can do right now. Really have to do my dailies.

trying on this one with my thief with no success as i dont have enough regen against the random hits I take in phase2.

but what i want to know is do you have to throw 8 lights only in phase 2 (not counting the 3 of phase1) and do you get the achievement as soon as you achieve this or do you need to kill her?

Basically P1 and P2, so as soon as you see 5 vurnerability stacks it ussually means you have a total of 8 orbs thrown at her.
That is, if you dont have any natural vurnerability i think?

Best to damage her though.

Just beat “Light Up the Darkness” after probably 75 tries. I beat it AFTER I ran out of time. As I was falling down below, the boss died of condition damage and I was teleported back up. Literally shouted out loud when I saw myself teleport from the middle of the air back to the platform alive. Wish I had recorded it, was the most exciting moment I’ve ever had in GW2. I think I only got 7 lights on her, so it might be bugged or there might be a typo on the achievement.

Edit:

Gear: Full rabid, 2x rune of hoelbrak, 2x rune of fire, 2x rune of altruism.

Trinkets: Marriner’s Flask, Fierceshot’s Arrow, Khilbron’s Phylactery, Ouroboros Loop, Hymn to the Prophets and a Fractal Capacitor. Capacitor was PTV. No infusions, just agony resistance.

Used Pistol/Shield. Pistol was rabid with superior sigil of battle. Shield was Power/Tough/Healing Power with superior sigil of energy.

Traits were 30/0/0/30/10.

In Explosives I used II, V, XI.

In Alchemy I used I, IV, XI.

In Tools I used VI.

Skills: Med Kit, Grenade kit, Elixir S and Elixir R
