I have not had my butt handed to me this hardcore during the entire Gauntlet. Everyone says it is so easy on Mesmer and looking at videos it looks like it should, but Strugar only goes between throwing meat and pulling me to him. Did they buff him or something? I can barely do anything to them before I’m down and out and I am confused beyond all belief about it.

I did it on mesmer. I used pistol and had the mantra of distraction and signet of domination on my tool bar as well as blink. Get a phantasm build and get those pistol phantasms going. Stunt the dog as he goes for the meat and run over and grab it- blink when needed. You have 4 stuns on the bar and then also your f3- but try not to use that one since you are killing him with phantasms.

mesmers are meant to be the kings of interrupts. interrupt the dog whenever meat is thrown (hint: focus and pistol as offhands probably help) and let the phantasms deal the damage.

For me, it was all about Mantra of Distraction. I already had 30 in Domination, so I retraited to Harmonious Mantras to get three dazes out of Mantra of Distraction instead of the default two. I also found Illusionary Wave on the greatsword to be helpful to push the mutt away when he was right on top of the meat. I found the hardest part was pinpointing the animation when Strugar threw the meat. Let your phantasms do the work damage-wise so you can just autoattack and keep an eye on Strugar’s meaty throws. Be sure to keep at least one stunbreaker on your toolbar if you end up having to eat four delicious meats…the fourth will stun you. You may also want to focus on a dps-heavy build. The faster you bring the mutt down, the better. I didn’t have pistol or signet of domination, but they can most certainly help. The more interrupts, the better!

TYVM. Mantra of Distraction worked like a charm. Got it achievement on 2nd try. Because 1st time I forgot to precharge mantra, and was charging instead of dazing when I went to use it.

Iv been close, but no prize for me. Starting to lose the will to even do it, tho ill keep going on,—- re-equped, —-re everything, but when he keeps throwing at the mutts feet, it really feels like im being trolled. Oh well, back to the grind, sigh.

The dog dies so fast without eating that you barely need to interrupt him anyways. I did it with my ele using only one interrupt the entire time (earthquake). Just watch where Strugar throws the meat and run or blink over there while ranging the dog. You don’t even need to beat Strugar afterwards to get the achievement.
