We need more epic stories. Not ones about disgruntled settlers or a freaking election. We have enough of these in real life. We need dragon attacks, capitals destroyed, important characters killed, old legendary enemies brought back to life, Gods, etc…

We certainly don’t need more kittenty events made for 5% of the players.

This gauntlet, was a really good idea and I love the idea of it.

But the way it was executed and the acknowledgment from the devs on “Not everyone will be able to do it” seems like a complete 180 on the game we have been playing for nearly a year. This game is very casual. Adding elements like this you risk alienating a huge swath of the population that has been able to tackle all aspects of the game since launch with no exclusion. So of course there will be backlash about it.

I know some mini pet collectors and AP accumulators that are very unhappy by excluding them from getting through the gauntlet for these things. So it does effect some of the player base out there, no they aren’t forced but the glaring empty slot of a mini or a ton of AP missed will make people annoyed and angry when it’s not been near the difficulty like this before.

I think content like this will be a tricky thing to add. It does make me wonder what direction GW2 will be heading in the future, I myself hope it remains casual and will not take the route of exclusion found in so many other games.

…and you will be killed due to the time limit even if you survive, cause you couldn’t dps her fast enough.

They removed the trinity to replace it with a single factor: dps.

You don’t read, do you? There’s a huge difference there. While those modes have their problems, they aren’t cheap one hit kill gimmicky invulnerability nearly all the time like Liadri.

If I said, “the entire Queen’s Gauntlet needs to be thrown away”, then your comparison to WvW and PvP might work. But it doesn’t, because I specified that particular boss, and gave reasons why.

I guess asking for more garbage bosses like that would be self-centered too, eh?

I read just fine. You want to remove a single boss and two Achievements which are praised and enjoyed by the community. The reason? You don’t enjoy it. And it’s optional. Don’t try to sugar-coat your agenda.

The fight is not perfect as it has various bugs and issues. To say it is “designed poorly” is wrong though and insulting, and shows a lack of understanding and appreciation of the boss’ actual design. Almost every element is not random.

Yes, because I’m clearly the only one who hates this boss, and points out all the things wrong with it. Not all those other posters in those other threads bringing up how bad it is. Certainly that “Nerf Liadri Please” thread is just in my head, (I haven’t even posted there..I think.) and those other posters mentioning their dislike of one hit kills and the other elements of the fight. It’s more like half of the community likes it, and half doesn’t.

I don’t know how, but you actually made yourself look even dumber than before.

Praised by the community? So you’ve asked most of the people who play the game their thoughts on it then? That’s an amazing achievement. Maybe worth about 100 points.

Lets be honest here, when you say “praised by the community” you mean praised by you and maybe 2 or 3 of your friends.

All the people I’ve talked to about it disliked it. So who is wrong and who is right, I wonder?

The final boss took me around 15 tries and while I raged initially, I took my licks, learned the fight and won. I am on a necro so you dont need block/dodge spam to do it.

Oh God! 15 tries! You really had to rage a lot! I suspect your entry to be a “I am awesome” post in disguise. Hint: there are people who tried her hundreds times already and still didnt managed to win.

I killed it with celestial gear in my mesmer, and the aoes not let my phantoms do much.

I am not sure on this, some of the fights(not just talking about liadri here) are a bit random for my taste. And I do not like one shotting, have never liked it in any game I have played.
But people seem to enjoy the event and even though I migt not be able to finish this that’s ok. I am not good enough to do all the things in the game anyway.

If you compare all of this to WoW.. I must say the best of memories are the countless tries on raid bosses, and final encounters. The tougher, the greater the memory. Those that do not like Liadri should not go for her then. It wasn’t everyone in WoW that beat the Lich King, and they shouldn’t, because if everyone can do it, it’s not worth achieving.
I think we need more really challenging content, but also make sure there are things to do for the casuals.

No, actually the opposite. Necromancers are at a huge disadvantage for the gauntlet, since we have no defensive skills to deal with spike damage. No invincibility, no block, no evade, no vitality skills.

Necromancers are blatantly unfavored, due to the recent pax update.

This arena content has some of the best fights added to the game since launch. I really hope Arena Net doesn’t listen to the mouthbreathing terribads who think it is “too hard/punishing”. This is the kind of content the game needs, keep it up!

Don’t forger that hard =/= from punishing.
There’s no point in leaving the arena dead and the respawn point being in the 1st floor or dropping us in the middle of nowhere when time is up.
The gear breaks i understand since many will be farming at least that will keep them in check in case of failure.

Regarding liadri i don’t like the orb mechanic since the pickup tends to get sticky or buggy, especially when you’re trying to hurry to avoid shadows/aoe etc.
I think the fact of luring her shadows to that particular space could have a direct effect on her making her loose the invulnerability. Of course as trade for the loss of difficulty she would again gain a shield if after X seconds another shadow wasn’t destroyed.

This way the fight could go like this:
Lure 2 shadows to break the 1st two shields, lure last shadow to break the last shield, entering P2, and after like 20s that shield was renewed going back to P1 if a 4th shadow wasn’t destroyed.
So for a normal fight lets say that instead of 3 orbs we had to lure 4-5 shadows (3 only with insane dps), and the harder achieve would be luring like 9-10.

I think it’s a fair trade of mechanics which wouldn’t make the achieve any easier but the fight would be more bearable.
