No automatic NPC 'rezzer'!? Heartbreaking.
Gold sinks help balance out the economy and it’s needed in games and MMO’s.
Where I do agree with you is that there should be a way to resurrect yourself without having to go to the fights with a friend watching your back. (Especially for people playing solo)
The best thing would have been if you died in the ring, you’re spawned immediately outside like it is now and revive you instantly, but still have to suffer the armor repair costs as if you had really died.
It would keep many people happy, but still have a gold sink in place.

But there is too many of these in Guild Wars 2.
Throwing in our face an event destined to try’n’failure AND requiring us to pay everything each time is just cruel and unneeded. At least, make the waypoint free.
If we have to pay, we have to pay. At least make it convenient to pay!
Wait, what? waypoints in cities are supposed to be free right? why does this one have a toll?

Armor repair costs are on average 1s-1.7s each. That’s not breaking the bank considering every 1-2 enemies you kill give 1-2s in the money and items they drop. I fail to see how this is not fair.
Making money isn’t hard, but having no punishment upon death/teleporting leaves everyone at the advantage of a continuous flow of money, which would cause items to rise in price and economic downfall.
What I’m primarily talking about is convenience of not having to die and make a 2-3 minute run back up to where you left off just to die again in 30 seconds.
Keep the armor broken for repair cost for the gold sink, but make it to where solo players can continue on the achievement(s) or enemy they’re after without having to rely on others to help them.
(Sadly enough, this is almost a ploy to have people buy resurrection orbs from the Gem Shop so they can revive themselves if they’re in short supply of money)

That’s the first thing I questioned too. Unless they want to get semantic, and argue it’s underneath the city.
