The Gauntlet is a punishing event for everybody, most bosses have a one hit mechanic that is hard to avoid and poorly telegraphed due to restrictive camera angles. But none of the bosses are as bad for Rangers as is Liadri.
Liadri has a one hit KO mechanism that covers a quarter of the map first phase, and half the map second phase. The only way to avoid this attack is to dodge, or just not be in the red circle area, which in itself is near impossible to discern due to the bad floor texture. This is fine for the human part of the Ranger, but what about the pet AI? AI doesn’t dodge. AI doesn’t do squat. AI sits in the red field you just dodged from and dies. Then if you swap out another pet, it does the same thing. Passive or aggressive mode, it doesn’t matter, either the pet is lagging behind you and doesn’t make it out in time, or it doesn’t dodge. POOF A large chunk of the Ranger DPS just disappeared for the entirety of the fight.
This is a very poorly conceived mechanic. While alright for the majority of non-pet classes (sorry MM necros) this mechanic unfairly punishes a large portion of the player community, mainly anyone who uses an AI in combat. Yes I know that Rangers have beaten Liadri even with this handicap, it does make it unduly kitten our class particularly.
AN, I as a Ranger want to know what you’re going to do to fix this gross oversight in programming. This problem isn’t exclusive to Liadri, it has been going on since day one of the game. Many people have proposed adequate solutions such as stowing the pet for a spirit bonus, or making pets AoE resistant. We want to know what you’re doing to fix things, so posts like this don’t have to be made in the future.
