Queen's Gauntlet: crew as ele
I’m not ele, but maybe you need to not be full berserker and get in some more sustain :o
Gunnar’s Hold
I understand that’s the part of my problem, but I’d rather not spend my precious gold on equip I’m not planning to use outside of this challenge. Besides I’m pretty sure it’s doable in zerk.
Ok, if I give up, what set should I get to survive this? :<
my zerker mesmer had problems, had to switch to zerker guardian. not every class can deal equally well with so many enemies while running zerker imho.
interestingly enough, my mesmer could easily burst down stitch and then kill 2 other until he finally got downed (no useful selfheals), while my guardian killed everybody except stitch and had a hard time dealing enough damage to him even when he was the only one left.
as for ele. maybe scepter/focus and trait a bit more defensively? you’ll probably have to focus one enemy down after another, stitch or the AoE caster (something starting with A I think) might be the best choice?
Yeah I’m trying to do Stitch and then Captain. I tried Stitch > Gunner, but then both melees get pistols and just rain me down.
use different weapons and a different build, not a different armor. also a lot less expensive (I used some yellows for some fights).
staff is obviously not a good weapon for all situations.
focus is generally good against ranged enemies, use water or earth elemental to have a bit of leeway and maybe use flaming greatsword if you can knock one enemy against a wall you’ll probably instakill him with #3
I have ele with full zerker gear but not as zerk traits.
Completed it at first try. My hp did drop couple times to quite low but I found it quite easy. If I remember correctly, I took the melee ones first and then ranged ones.
Just change your traits to more tankier and this should be easy
Still reading this? You know there is something better to be done for sure. -.-’’
I’ve beaten everyone with ele except the very last boss. I’m using mostly berserker gear (have some celestial trinkets because I didn’t know better before). But I use conjured weapons – lightning hammer and fiery greatsword with lightning flash to combine it with greatsword skill 4 and deal massive dmg (youtube → fiery rush trick).
Traits
20 – III, VIII
25 – VI, VII

25 – IV, VI

can’t find the thread where I got the build :/
fiery greatsword to kill one guy quickly …or to kite them around and Lightning hammer for dmg + blinds.
But you can probably also do it if you just take scepter with dagger or something and kill them in the right order. I’m pretty sure you cannot do the final boss with this build (but I was able to kill one boss with 3 gambits), you have much more chance there with scepter/focus and 0/30/0/10/30 traits.

Doing every tier with a zerker mesmer is not that hard. You just have to learn the mechanics of each encounter and dodge when needed and with the adept minor trait in Dueling, you basically have perma vigor.
I did almost all bosses at the first try (wiped twice at tier 3 deadeye, cos I didn’t know feedback wasn’t working -.-), and I’m currently at Strugar and Chomper, but it doesn’t seem that hard at all.
Build: 20/30/0/20/0 – GS / Sword-Focus or Sword-Sword

I beat all the bosses w/ a near-zerker fresh air ele (3 of my items are either soldiers or knights, the rest are zerker). I found zerker made all the fights incredibly easy. The last boss went down in like 40 seconds after her shield dropped. Some tips from my own experiences:
1) Don’t use staff. I’m not saying it’s a bad weapon, but it doesn’t seem well suited for an arena where you’re usually focusing down a single mobile target at a time. The DPS on moving targets is too low and the amount of self-healing you can put out is limited. When I fought the crew, it seemed like everytime I downed one of them, the rest healed up (I only fought them once and won, so I don’t remember all their mechanics). If they do indeed heal up, then AOE is completely worthless against them. I’d recommend scepter/dagger to leverage your zerker gear’s DPS. Water trident, cleansing wave, and GOEH in water attune gives out much more mobile healing than geyser, healing rain, and GOEH. And DT + phoenix + ring of fire + earth-dodge + earthquake + instacast lightning bolts from air + instacast arcane spells will instagib whichever pirate you’re targeting and (and do significant damage to every other arena boss).
2) If you need more sustain but don’t want to change your gear, retrait so you have Evasive Arcana, Elemental attunement, renewing vigor, and at least 15 in water for the extra heal-on-swap. It’ll be pretty hard to die to any of the non-instagib attacks with permavigor and this much healing. I personally didn’t go with 15 in water, because I took fresh air (so 0/30/0/10/30).
3) Earth 3 in scepter is an aoe blind, and air3 in scepter is an instacast single-target blind. Get used to using those to avoid big attacks so you don’t have to waste endurance.
4) Swapping to earth with elemental atunement gives you 6+ seconds of protection (depending on your boon duration), which drastically ups your survivability. You can time that for situations where you can’t avoid taking damage.
5) As far as the match-specific tactics go, what I did was to use my opening combo to instagib the doctor (I assumed he healed others, but again I don’t really know cause he didn’t get a chance to do anything). Then I dropped the guy who was labeled as “high damage” cause I figured he did the most damage. I saved the cannon-bombardment guy for last cause you can always walk out of the red circles. Otherwise, I just kept running around the arena.
So here’s the deal. I’m a full berserker staff ele and spent like 20 tickets trying to beat the crew. I’m pretty tired and angry after all this struggle (still, best event so far!) and asking for help and advice. If anone done this, please share your tactic and build.
Im a berserker ele too. I did all the fights with daggers.
Is it bad that, as a guardian, I just blindly killed all of them in random fashion w/o a strat ._.
Hummm I didn’t have any problem with crew. I don’t use zerg gear but still I am staff ele 0/30/0/20/20. I think the trick is to always target ranged foes first and aoe range foe and run up to the targeted foe. This way aoe can get both ranged and melee foes who follow you around. When multiple foes in aoe, use CC skills like chill or static field to keep them together for additional aoe attack.
Although the content is supposed to be doable with a wide variety of gear, there is a limit.
No need to get a whole new gear set, but at the minimum is you should consider having access to weapon swaps. Elementalist is incredibly easy here since you got so few weapons in total, you just need 1 staff, 2 daggers, 1 scepter and 1 focus.
This is the group of pirates (Or bandits, I ain’t sure) boss? If so… I did with my ele using this:
Weapon – Staff. Skills : Arcane Shield, Cleansing fire, Arcane wave.
Strategy : Stack in middle, luring all guys together, active Cleansing fire (Heavy burn damage in all of then), arcane shield to protect you from attacks, earth shield(Staff skill) to reflect projectiles, change to Fire att to gain might, use arcane Wave to hit har all of then again, and if you had been fast, you’ll have time to do the #5 Staff fire skill (Large AOE, with heavy fire damage).
Only doing this, all guys will have loose 75% of their lifes, so you use fire retreat (#4 fire staff skill) to get out of the hell, turn to water att to receive boons of heal, and also use #4 skill to chill the foes. Use the time to activate you elit skill, what will help to defeat some of the guys.
Doing this (With water field around ,#3 and #5 water staff skills)you charge earth/fire and go again on remaining bosses with low health. Will respawn 2 more guys with Full health, But then you have almost 1:20 to beat they.
