Q:

So in the next patch in a few days, Champion loot is being overhauled. My question is, is this going to be exploitable by the already tons of people that just sit in Queensdale all day? Better explained, are champions that respawn within 5 minutes in Queensdale going to give the same chance at the new weapon skins and new Champion loot as champions in Orr?

I know that when I’m pressed for time on my dailies I go to Queensdale and in the span of fhe 20-30 minutes it takes me to do my dailies, I see the troll, wasp, boar, and oakheart events being called out probably 5-8 times each.

Is this new champion loot overhaul just going to encourage people camping in Queensdale all day and getting the same rewards as people trying to take down champs in Orr?

Another part of the question, are the bags affected by timed diminishing returns IE: 1 a day per character per champion, just reduced loot the more you farm it, or any sort of diminishing return whatsoever?

I can see this becoming a huge problem if people can get the same loot from the same champions in the starter zones a couple times per hour.

If I recall correctly, champion loot will be based on level.

For example, Queensdale champs would drop tier 1 mats. Orr champions would drop tier 6 (likely including lodestones) mats.

Also for the new weapon skins, I THINK each champion will have a unique skin drop instead of all sharing the same skin drop pool, but not entirely sure.

That’s good to hear. That’s what my guildies were speculating as well – higher leveled enemies would give better loot in the bags, level 3 or 5 ones in Queensdale would give a lot worse loot. That’s how it should be anyway, I just hope that’s the case so that people can’t get the nice new rare weapon skins by camping Queensdale all day.

It sounds like the type of loot will be based on the type of mob (bandit, undead, etc) and the level/area the mob is found in. Though this hasn’t been verified.

What I’m worried about is that people are going to start spamming the 1st boss of Arah path 3 again; 1 legendary and 1 champ mob which can be spammed about once every 5-6 minutes.

It hasn’t been stated one way or the other. If this was anet’s strategy to repopulate the desolate orr, then the abovementioned behavior would do just that. Lodestones? cores? T6 mats? karma? Skill points?(xp from events). Yes please. I need more of all of that for my legendary. Not to mention karma is a quick gearing option for a new 80 or a new set of stats

I do believe Colin or someone said the unique rewards from champs would be daily like dragon event loot, they want people to starting hunting and “explore”-ing again, also do you really believe they would make it as easy as farming Queen troll all day, just saying it would be better to start thinking about where you can find champions everywhere.

With the way some things have been going I would not be surprised. That’s why I asked. I’m ok with this. Once a day loot bag per unique champion? I’m 100% ok with that.

also one thing i THINK not many people have mentioned they’ve stated:

if you qualify for loot rewards on that boss when it is killed

i’m assuming this is as simple as either account/character bound, once per day? similar to existing world boss loot mechanics.

any other ideas? or if it’s been disclosed in detail elsewhere and i missed it, well, ooops. XDD

I would assume that only means that you have to do enough damage to qualify for the reward (such as it already is)
