Rather Display Luck Reward or Skill Reward?
Neither… I prefer showing off things that look cool or fit with the character used.
If I ever beat Liadri and get the mini, for example, I’d still most likely never use it, mainly because I find tiny versions of fully grown humans weird looking (now if I had a “Chibified” version of Liadri as a mini would be different), I’d still much rather use other minis like the holographic knight or mini wind rider that mostly just got out of luck.
Same with weapons or armor. For example, if I managed to get the fractal’s greatsword, for example, that requires both luck and skill to play on the higher level fractals, chances are I’d still use the guild commendations greatsword that I feel looks cooler and fits better with the general look of my guardian and that mostly just required showing up at guild missions to get.
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
If I wanted to show off then I’d rather display something I got through skill than luck, because it seems pointless to me to show off your achievements with something you didn’t really put any effort into.
But most the time I don’t think about it like that, I use what I like and don’t think about how other people might interpret it. I’m just as likely to be running around with a blue mini I bought for 5s as any of my ‘impressive’ ones.
Or recently my mini Helmed Racing Moa. I ‘earned’ it through an evening of slowly spending 21g on races, I doubt anyone will be impressed, or even care, that I’ve got it. But it’s a tiny moa in an oversized hat, and I love it, so I use it. (I especially like using it on my min height asuran because it’s as tall as she is.)
Sometimes the two coincide, for example my main character wears the Fire God’s Vambraces I got for earning 30 Hall of Monuments points because I think they’re cool, and occasionally I’ll get compliments on them. But I’d never wear or display something I didn’t like just because I think it might be impressive.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Mini priest of Balthazar is not that rare, consider orrian box is the most efficient way to covert karma to gold.
In fact, I consider getting it as bad luck(or rather, waste of good luck), I will be much happier to get any lodestone in its place.
In terms of minis I really don’t have a preference. I use what I like. For example, the Griffon plushie or the hippo I got in the gem store. Neither are exactly rare. But I get a lot of comments on my shiny hippo. I just tell them hes been rolling around in all that butter in my bank. :x
In terms of titles, I think its more of effort I put in rather then skill. I don’t necessarily feel like Dungeon Master took so much skill per say, as just time and effort with others. But something like Omnomnivore its just a fun title and still took some time.
Weapon skins I’ve really only had the “luck” to get one jade coupon of all the events so far. But I ended up having to use it on a alt that has become my pack mule. So I can’t say I really care about showing it off. :x I still felt lucky when I got it, but was kind of disappointed I couldn’t get anything that matched my main. :P
Personally I still use the tier 3 cultural Sylvari staff, because its the only thing that I feel fits, aside from maybe the Walking Stick from HoM. Neither are exactly rare (even though I never see anyone using Sylvari weapons on my server – have had some comments on it though). So in the end its more about what I enjoy over how I got it.
When you first get something from skill or effort you do feel excited about it for a bit and want to show it off. Thats to be expected. But the feeling wears away.
