The only usage of these was to increase the coin drop on bosses, but now that it’s being removed, are we getting refunded for the cost of this infusion?

Are you going to delete all the extra gold you have obtained through the gold find infusion in the days/weeks/months you had the infusion equipped?

I didn’t think so. So what makes you think you’ll get a refund for something you’ve already used and benefitted from?

You still don’t deserve a refund. You’ve got 5 days to make the most of that gold find inscription. So munch down those omnomberry bars and run CoF until your eyes bleed.

If you were responsible for making this decision on whether to refund recent purchases, how would you define ‘recent’? Someone who has the infusion for 6 days 23 hours 59 minutes gets a refund, someone who has the infusion for 7 days 0 hours 1 minute doesn’t get a refund – where is a fair ‘cut off point’ for ‘recent’?

If it was ‘recent’ as in after they released the whole ‘where this game is going for the rest of 2013’, you should have known that they were changing the dungeon reward system.

Just like with their announcement for changing magifind, they should do something similiar for gold find. Because without those larger champion drops the stat is kinda useless. A few extra copper don’t really add up enough to make the stat worth it.

Ofcourse you should get a refund or somethign equivelant. They make a stat and then descide “nah”. That doesnt mean your work to get the laurals should be lost.

“But you had your use out of it!”
Ah, but you gave up other stats and items to get this. That was the price you payed for gold/magic find. Not losing all those laurals when Anet descided the stat is undesireable to maintain.
And the people who spend these laurals on something else still get to use and benefit from it. Why should one player be punished, losing all his laurals and work to get them, and another player isnt?

It does add up for me and is quite useful. You’re speaking of your own expectations and of what is “of use” to you. It adds up; a couple of percent from account gold boost from achievements, a 20% utility infusion and some 30% food. All I do is PvE (as in, Open World, not Instances) and I get quite a noticeable increase in coin from kills. Maybe stop only farming champs. For the time it takes to down a champ and get a little coin, there’s actually more coin to be gained in killing some random enemies in that time than in that single champ kill. Not to also mention that the coin spent waypointing to the next champ in the zerg train is more than what the single champ drops in terms of coin (I assume you are the type of player to partake in that activity by your statements).

Your point is moot. Although you might think the infusion is now useless, gold does drop from all sorts of enemies in PVE.

The gain you’re going to get out of it will be significantly lower than you intended, but that doesn’t mean the infusion is now useless. It’s useless in your opinion.

No you’re not entitled to a refund.

I bought it, like many (I would even say ‘most’ here) did, for it’s usefulness in dungeons. I don’t typically just clear open-world PvE. I’ve done it all and it’s all comparatively boring with sub-par results compared to dungeons/fractals. And now that the stat will be lacking in dungeons/fractals, yes, it is kinda useless. Just like with magifind, they should do something to recompense people for an item that can no longer fulfill it’s purpose.

We need a refund simply because laurels are given from daily and monthly, so they can’t be regained fast as gold and crafting materials. When this infusions came out, none of us knew they would become useless one day, I spent laurels for an amulet and an infusion that are now useless.
I’m not against changes, i’m against changes that make things I purchased completely useless!

You’re both missing the point. The gilded infusion wasn’t made to boost dungeon boss drops, it was made boost gold drops everywhere. This thing will still work as intended.

This is nothing more than player entitlement. “I can’t abuse this as much any more so you have to pay me back the costs.”

What about people who bought them in the last week or so? Those people are down a significant investment. Laurels are a limited resource and 20 laurels is a lot. The only use for this infusion was boss drops in dungeons, no-one would use 20 laurels for random PvE gold drops (most direct gold comes from sources unaffected by gold find, such as events). The only part of the game that made gilded infusions worth 20 laurels was the dungeon boss drops. Even in Southsun Cove players ignored the gold find because open world gold drops are terrible.

A 20 laurel price is a long term investment. It’s completely fair to say that this change devalues that investment to the point where a person with knowledge of this change would never have dropped 20 laurels on that infusion.

I don’t understand all the hostility towards OP. He/she was simply asking a question about an option and didn’t sound demanding.

@OP: refund? probably not, but Anet has stated that you will get some other stats to replace the removed MF stats on gear. I think Anet will have to be very careful here on which stats to replace MF, I hope it would be something that everyone can benefit from, but only time will tell.

It’s not hostility against the OP. Arguably, of the posse of followers the OP is the least demanding of the bunch.

I am however stressing that they use a personal evaluation of situation. The gilded infusion is not broken or useless after the removal of dungeon boss (read COF) gold drops. It’s just no longer useful for abusing this niche.

Considering the infusion will keep on boosting all monster gold drops, it will keep on working as intended and there no reason at all to refund the purchase.

For those who only recently bought it, it’s still better than nothing.

You generalize and make largely inaccurate and in some ways completely false statements based on nothing more than opinion and expectations.

I use the +20% GF infusion for OWPvE where much of my coin is gained from looting kills. Half of your paragraph is false to that point.
Regarding Southsun, I primarily used the +200% coin boost instead of the magic find boost for the duration of the event, coupled with +30% food. At that time I did not have my +20% laurel infusion. I was gaining 4-6 gold per hour from looting kills. Do you make 4-6g per hour from the coin dropped by killing dungeon bosses?

Even running the Harathi Hinterlands zone event nets me close to 2 gold in coin drop with the laurel infusion and 30% food on…and I run that twice an hour usually (then 2-3g in junk loot and 3-4g in selling mats and the occasional rare on the TP).
Perhaps you should give playing other content a thorough try if your main goal is to make coin, and also put your gold find infusion to good (better?) use.

I’ve seen the open world coin drop and I call BS. Coin drops in the open world are not that high, and the added 20% is miniscule on top of this. The 20% gold find was actually only useful for dungeon runs and looting the real coin drops from the bosses.

And they are not just for ‘abusing’ dungeons. Some people run many different paths of many dungeons and don’t just farm COF. Your personal opinion on whether or not farming COF is abusing the system is irrelevant.

While the function of the 20% gold find will remain, the actual usefullness and benefit of it has changed dramatically. When you change a whole reward system of a game, chances are certain things become obsolete (or less useful) and others become more useful.

I don’t care how long anyone has used their item, if the function of it or the usefulness of it is removed the purchaser should be entitled to some form of compensation.

How about we just take your zerker gear and say oh well? You’ve used it long enough, time to buy some more armor. Such ridiculous line of thinking.

Rubbish. If you want to make a somewhat appealing and comparable statement you should create a scenario where we’d keep our Berserker armour, but some other stat gets boosted, shifting the meta towards that leaving our Berserker armour absolutely identical to before, but useless now because none of us play it any more.

And surely we’ll call for refunds then too right? Right?

It’s still your interpretation of the usefulness that matters. The gilded infusion is not changing one little bit through all this and still has it use. I’m sorry you find it insufficient but that’s not ours, nor Anet’s problem but your own.

If the gilded infusion currently affects open world drops AND coin dropped from dungeon bosses and that is going to change to JUST open world drops and NOT dungeon bosses, than the usefullness (while not the basic function) has changed drastically since it’s release.

The percentage of coin generated from open world drops versus the percentage of coin generated from dungeon bosses is far less. No one with a straight face can try to claim open world coin drops come any where close to dungeon boss coin drops.

It really isn’t my interpretation, but it is fact. The usefullness of the item will change drastically.

And that IS Anet’s problem, because they are the ones who have created this issue. It’s very similar to the problem they are creating with removing MF, but that is a whole different topic.

IMHO: The dungeon boss overhaul has been known for at least 2 weeks. Not that it would come so soon, but the simple fact that it will come later this year was posted on several sites including the official site, discussed here and there and everywhere. If you got it in the past 2 weeks, you can’t blame anyone but yourself, because I do believe that you have to read the official news to the least in an mmo (as well as in real life!) to stay informed.
If you got it before, you definitely already profited from the +20% gold gain. Thus your complaints are invalid.

Same thing with real life, I can’t go back to a store and give back a dvd after it has been opened and expect a refund. You got your moneys worth, end of story. I have a gilded and a magic find infusion on 2 chars and I am not complaining about neither becoming pretty much obsolete.

It’s not like anything comes with a guarantee in this game “will always be the same and never change”. MMOs change. Builds and skills get changed, and you might have to invest in new armor and weapons. That’s simply life. You’ll get new laurels.

So nice of everyone here to determine how it takes before people get their money’s worth out of an item. It isn’t up to anyone to determine how long it takes until I have got my money’s worth.

If you bought an unlimited use chop-it-all axe and they later changed it to not work all the time on all trees you would feel slighted. The item still functions, you have gotten plenty of use out of it, but the usefullness has changed.

Wow, tooltips don’t mention coin dropped by bosses so that must mean it doesn’t function that way? And tooltips tell you the whole story, huh?

People are/have bought the item because of the way it DOES function, not how the community has advertised it. This point holds no weight to the discussion.

The item functioned a certain way when purchased by players. Players inform themselves and then make informative purchases.

The functionality has NOT changed. It is NOT falsely advertised.

When you change a basic function of a game, like dungeon rewards, you are bound to have other consequences like make certain items a little useless and certain items more useful.

Your analogy with the DVD is flawed. YOU can not return the DVD. But if the store asked for the DVD back two weeks later and just says ‘you got your money’s worth’, this would not be acceptable. You purchased the DVD with the idea of keeping it in your collection until your girlfriend gets mad and throws it across the room at the wall. To have the store later change its mind and say, nope, it was a one time rental, please return will leave a bad taste in your mouth.

I am going to side with OP on this one since a precedent has already been set. In wvw it was decided to refund wvw rank points when arrow carts were made less effective. Like laurels, these took time to aquire and had to be spent wisely. Whether you agree with OP’s motives or not for buying his infusion you should agree there are enough similarities.

Maybe it’s time to add a recycling vendor who gives back karma/laurels/gold for such items? It could make it a lot easier for the devs to remove them from the game and also gives people time and incentive to make the changes voluntarily. Maybe 100% refunds for the first 2 weeks? Eventually at some point after that Ellen/Evon should send the boys round to collect the outlawed equipment due to its magical instability – and it should be funny as hell to watch

And yes, people who’ve invested 20 laurels into Gold Find infusion should get refund. Because stat is useless after 6th aug. It doesn’t matter if they’ve farmed 10 legendaries with it or 5G. That’s just another bad mistakes of the developers, and sooner or later the people who play will have witnessed enough of that crap to turn their backs on GW2.

The thing with the gold find is pretty much the same as with ascended gear. You get something, and it’s worth kitten. I’ll look at the requirements to get my 2 favorite characters in full-asc armor, but probably it will be too much to not stop playing.

People are so stupid, that makes their own brain think ever in the wrong (And worst) way.

The new reward system affects only the very end-chest of dungeons (that one with 60 tokens and 26s). ALL other coin drops from any sort of monster (Even the bosses, yes) continue without changing.

“all other drops off of bosses have not been changed” < From release page.

Your chop-it-all axe analogy is even worse than the DvD analogy, if anything, it will be more like increasing respawn time of trees, rather than making the axe not work all the time for all trees.

As for anyone who cry about the infusion being “useless”, all I can say is Anet is not nerfing GF, they are nerfing the most effective way of using it, so I don’t see refund is needed.

If you bought an unlimited use chop-it-all axe and they later changed it to not work all the time on all trees you would feel slighted. The item still functions, you have gotten plenty of use out of it, but the usefullness has changed.

The rest of it I can overlook but I think this is the empitome of your flawed logic. Yes the chop-it-all axe may still function but they would have changed its basic function that is: it acts as a permanent ori axe. Ori axes work on all trees all of the time(barring the occasional glitch). Therefore if they changed the perma tools to only work some of the time they would change its function not reduce an exploit. Nothing about the gold find infusion will change it will just be harder to exploit it.

I was gonna let it slide but to be honest your argument as a whole is flawed. The store asking for the dvd back doesn’t fit your argument either. If anything a better analogy would be the store asking to exchange the dvd for a copy with piracy protection to reduce people exploiting it. The film will still be the same, all the features will still be there but you wont be able to exploit it for easy money.

I see where you are coming from now, and there is no reasoning with people like you. If you see using the gilded infusion to run dungeons as an exploit then this whole conversation is a moot point.

It likely won’t be refunded. The only thing that is changing is dungeon gold will be mostly awarded at the end upon completion. This has no affect to the rest of the world where the infusion can also be used.

Gold and Magic Find are not being removed, simply shifted in some situations. You probably won’t (and definitely shouldn’t) get a refund.

I’ve been reading your remarks, and I believe you have this statement reversed. You feel entitled to something, and so far you have rejected EVERY counterpoint brought up (normally not very well).

The infusion hasn’t changed. You can’t argue this point. The bosses will no longer be dropping money, true, but what if the reverse where to happen. What if they doubled the coin drop from bosses. Would all the other players then be entitled to a refund on their non cash-cow infusion? They are increasing the rewards from champions. This might influence their coin drop too. Can I get a refund on my MF infusions?

What if they nerf your current spec (say you are condition and have full carrion gear). You spent time and money building your gear (lets just say you have ascended items since they tie in with laurels). Should you get a refund? I have a back piece (one of the arrow sheath skins) sitting in my inventory because their destroyed the spec that used those stats. Am I entitled to a refund?

This is probably a pointless argument, as you will no doubt just ignore it or maybe worse, agree that with EVERY change in the game, EVERYTHING gets refunded so you can alter your gear without effort. They only cost 20 laurels, it’s not the end of the world if you need to spend the next 20 days to change it (and this is coming from an altaholic that will be changing at least 2 necks when the patch hits).

Since the very start of game, gold find never affected end-chest, so.. this thread is worthless.

/endcase.

Maybe you should read through the release page again because there is a very important line that you seemed to completely miss. Also this is the first part of the sentence that you quoted so not really sure how you missed it. It goes something like this “Guaranteed coin rewards that previously dropped from bosses in dungeons have been removed in lieu of these new rewards for dungeon completion; all other drops off of bosses have not been changed.” So this thread is not pointless in the fact that dungeon gold find will be useless…… unless they make it so chests are affected by gold find!!!! Make it happen anet, make it happen.

Bonus Rewards for Dungeons
Each day when you finish a unique path for any explorable or story dungeon, you’ll receive a bonus reward for completion—1 to 3 gold for explorable dungeons depending on their length and difficulty, 50 silver for story dungeons. Guaranteed coin rewards that previously dropped from bosses in dungeons have been removed in lieu of these new rewards for dungeon completion; all other drops off of bosses have not been changed. Now you have even more incentive for braving the hazards of the dungeons of Tyria!

All I have to say is “hahahahahahaha!”.

CoFp1 farming ruined the economy, that’s right, ruined. Maybe after a few months this change will bring it back into some semblance of balance.

Refund for something that helped break the economy? Refund for something that will now be working as intended? NOPE

Hats off to all the ones who stood before me, and taught a fool to ride.

I’ve never claimed the infusion has changed. I have said numerous times, the infusion still functions. Just the usefullness of it has changed.

Most of the ‘counterpoints’ brought up here simply boil down to: using the gilded infusion for dungeon boss coin drop is an exploit, you’ve already gained a benefit from it so you deserve nothing, or quit crying it still works.

Nerfs happen all the time, and no, not everyone is entitled to any form of compensation all the time.

But when they change basic functionality of the game like a total revamp of dungeon rewards and the total removal of MF from the game, there are serious issues that occur. These are not simple little ‘tweaks’ to the game that cause nerfs. They are major revamps of the entire system.

Everyone jumped down the OP’s throat for bringing up what is a valid point. They have a legitimate concern. They shouldn’t have been berated and called a whiner and an exploiter.

And I personally don’t feel entitled to ANYTHING. The OP has a valid point and the change to dungeon rewards WILL affect the viability of the gilded infusion. If they feel a little cheated/slighted I see their point and support them.

For the people who said “but I only bought it within the last week”…It was all over the forums before they did the announcement about the Jubilee on their main page and made this forums. Them removing MF has been known, so if you bought it “recently” (in the past week)..then well…sucks, but it’s been known about.
