So Sigil of Bursting has a stat that doesn’t fit its name and overlaps with Sigil of Malice... this is an obvious error that I thought Anet would slap whoopsie patch on within a few hours of release, but it hasn’t changed.

I hope it’s not something that Anet won’t fix for fear of screwing up people’s builds, I’m curious what stat it was supposed to have originally.

Don’t hold your breath. There has been numerous things we have brought up in front of their nose like underwhelming and nonfunctional traits, the Minstrel etc… and the things being fixed are bug crashes that we didn’t know exist and plus a bunch of nerfs that are uncalled for. Though on the plus side… hopefully those two sigil stack.

Confirmation from a dev on if this sigil is working as intended or not would be great.

It looks like it could be a copy/paste error or on the flip side it could be intended for main hand/off hand use along with the Malice sigil.

It probably makes more sense for bursting to be a crit damage sigil.

Oh, that would make it worth the charged lodestone for some people.

Agreed, two sigils with the same effect is pointless and must be a tool-tip bug. Either that or they didn’t realize they created two of the same thing but with different names.

Any idea if the two sigils have been tested to see if both are increasing condition duration or if sigil of bursting is actually doing something else and it is only a ‘wrong tool-tip’ issue?

One idea, what if they STACK? so you could have +12% cond duration from a 2 weapon set, but you can only have 5% bonus damage for power?

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

Condition duration reduction wouldn’t make sense for a sigil. For a rune, maybe. For a sigil, no.

Why wouldn’t it make sense? There are off-hand items that are considered “defensive” after all, like shield, focus etc…

That’s what I think; it’s probably +Critical Damage.
Unfortunately, it’d be kinda weak. Wouldn’t you need like an 84% crit chance just for it to break even with the sigil of +5% damage? Hopefully the amount is bugged as well, and it’s more like +10% Critical Damage.

I suspect it was originally a crit damage sigil but they changed their minds for some reason.

Assuming it was more than +5% damage (say 10% crit damage) it would be the optimum sigil for many builds. The easiest builds to play are reaching 100% crit chance, so a sigil that did +10% crit damage would essentially be a 10% damage increase. Crit damage is already broken in PvE, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed the sigil to prevent further breaking it.

Well, the Sigil of Bursting has been updated. It no longer shares the same stats as the Sigil of Malice. Though I don’t expect many people to like what bonuses it has been given.

I find it odd that Major has two stat increases, while Superior and Minor only have one. Is this tool-tip still incorrect in what the sigils do? Or is this how it is now meant to be?

Just noticed this as well.

Is this a joke? One stack on Sigil of corruption is better than this. I hope whoever came up with this as a “patch” gets laughed at in every staff meeting for the rest of his/her life.
