Okay, I’m hoping with the crazy dev post activity on this forum, I can get a response of some kind. crosses fingers

I know it was said that we would be getting new hairstyles “soon”, and I had been (foolishly) getting my hopes up that we would see them for this QJ update. So far no word on such, and I imagine we would be told if it were the case. Any chance we could get a word on when we might see new hair and maybe even face options? At least, other than the very few that have been snuck into certain updates with NO ANNOUNCEMENT of their arrival.

(If you didn’t already know, we have access to Rox’s horns, Horrik’s mustache, Kirra Timberhone’s tattoos, and I believe another male norn tattoo option, that I am personally aware of.)

It’s awesome that we see new skins for armors and weapons, and I am thankful, but it would be nice update on new character creation options.

Or maybe we will see them for this living story update? Eh??

When/where did they say that we are getting new hairstyles soon? I’m saving a Total Makeover Kit for my main character because I want to change her tattoos and hairstyle, but I’m waiting for more options.

I can’t remember if a dev confirmed or hinted at it as well, but they were found in the .dat files from a reddit user, and that I guess they “moved up” in priority

(I admit I know nothing about searching the .dat so my knowledge is kind of off there)

but somewhere in the back of my mind is a dev saying something about them as well… though I have no source, so I could be wrong.

Awesome, thanks! I suppose all races are getting new hairstyles. I wonder if they will be different versions of the same hairstyle for each race or if each race will have some new, unique hairstyles that do not look like the others. I would buy so many kits… And character slots…
Ugh, I can’t handle the hype!

Just reskin the sylvari male pony tail for humans by trading the leaf texture for hair and i’d be fine and an actual kitten beard that isn’t a choice between will turner and a hobo commando.

Agreed.. I can’t understand why MMOs don’t continuously add new hair & face options. CO did that & it was awesome..

well, going by the rest of the datamined stuff, it’ll be on this update. the new hairstyles can be seen as a BLTC store update of sorts, so it wouldn’t show up on the marketing blurb. after all, it says “exclusive to hair and makeover kits”.

keeping my hopes up, though there’s only one character i’d like to change the hairstyle.

Personally I would want to see new beards. Especially for human males since the current beards for human males seriously lacking in beardishness. New faces would be nice too.

Maybe an exotic barber could come over for the Queens Jubilee?

If not this update, i would look for this to show up on one of the “off” tuesdays when a big patch is not dropping. A week after the 6th or 20th patches, for example. They seem to drop at least something every tuesday.

Not to go too far OT, but what the shiznet does this have to do with this content update? The only comment you are likely to get is a thread lock.

It’s perhaps too naive to expect ANet to release any vanity stuff for free when they can sell makeover kits in the gemstore.

Not that I wouldn’t love a barber feature, even if it was like 1 gold per makeover. That barber would soon be the richest person in Tyria…

You mean champions online?

When in that game all new skins and body parts were account bound, so there was much more freedom and people changed appearances much, much, MUCH, MUCH more often, as stats and appearance were completely detached, so it made sense to keep making more and more, as players used to collect them more often.

In GW2, you have to pay each time you want to use a new appearance of any kind excepting dyes colors and PvP gear, so its much more prohibitive to change as often, and people tend to stick to a favorite appearance.

If you can keep each hairstyle you get, you’ll be more likely to get more hairstyles, as you can go back to the old ones anytime.
If you have to pay again each time you want to change hairstyles, you are more likely to pick your favorite one, and stick to that one.

That’s one of the many reasons unlocks are better than perishable items.

I’m always up for more character creation options. Always.
