I was thinking about the forums and all of you who think the gauntlet is impossible, and I was thinking that the few “OMG this is easy you are all just bads” posts that I read which is simply and completely unhelpful I thought perhaps it would be a good Idea for a thread full of helpful advice and people asking questions on how we beat the encounters to better help them.
I will start with my tactic for Liadri.
I first beat her with my elementalist, for this fight he was built [ 0/10, I/10 VI/20 V, IX/30 V, VI, XI] Dagger/Dagger, Glyph of Elemental Harmony, Lightning Flash, Mist form, cleansing fire. In full celestial gear save back and shoulders which are PVT, Plate of Steak and Asparagus, and Hardened Sharpening Stone.
First off cosmic rifts were my priority over anything else in the fight. If a rift was up I killed it right away. There is a very clear tell for when they spawn, getting a good Idea of what that is, and killing them instantly was key for me, I hated that they pulled me around and in a fight where timing and control were everything a element that made me lose control even for a second was detrimental.
So in her first phase I just stood atop the white whirlpools. (They always spawn in the same spot I noticed. one in front of my starting position behind her, then one back where I started. Then the last to the left of the second, if you are facing the first.) While waiting for the vision of mortality to walk across the whirlpool I would dance back and forth. (hitting A and D alternating) so that the random attacks from the Liadri would completely miss me, her compensation for movement made the ranged attacks go wide So I would always be at full health in phase 1. When a vision was close I could just back off a bit and let them hit the whirlpool. If there are vision of mortality spawns still chasing I would just back up a little more so they would bypass the Orb of Blazing Light, roll past them to it and pick it up. Now in this phase I noticed that the Shadowfall (large AOE attack) seemed to spawn right on the edge of a whirlpool if you were perfect in your execution timing wise. So I would run a little to the outside edge of the whirlpools to be near them but not on them for the shadowfall If you are a little behind on time then you can pretty much ignore the shadowfall completely.
In her second phase again cosmic rifts were priority, I ran in a tight circle around the middle of the room wide enough to keep the visions of mortality (they are very slow) behind me and never able to catch up but small enough that 1 dodge could clear the entire area of shadowfall. As for her I still had all my heals since she rarely if ever hit me in phase one so I used them for her attack damage. Keeping swiftness up I was able to run out of each section of shadowfall easily by circle strafing. I actually kept my camera on the majority of the ring rather than on her, always looking out for the cosmic rifts. If every I found myself crippled without chance of making it to the edge of the shadow fall I popped cleansing fire because she only has 2 conditions cleansing fire will always clear cripple. If cleansing fire was down I Would swap to water attunement and roll. To clear conditions and get some distance for the next set of shadowfalls. Keeping up swiftness (air attunement + Shocking Aura + Glyph of Elemental Harmony) was the key for me, as was keeping my condition removals ready for when I slipped a little.
Lightning flash and Mist form were my “OH kitten!” buttons but ironically the time I beat her I didn’t use them at all I was just in the zone I guess. However they worked when I was still learning the fight and kept me alive in times I know I would have died.
My Guardian was built [ 0/10 II/30 I, X, XII/30 III, VIII, IX/0 ] Scepter/Shield , Signet of Resolve, Smite Condition, Judge’s Intervention, Merciful Intervention, Renewed Focus. In Full berserker. Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew, and Quality Maintenance Oil
Again cosmic rifts were my priority over anything else in the fight. I dropped a Smite over them whenever they spawned. Without swiftness my guardian was a lot slower than my ele and has a lot less condition removal.
Phase 1 was identical
In phase 2 I had my guardian give Liadri a wider circle since he has 1200. Again circle strafing I auto attacked her with Orb of Wrath as I ran. Smite conditions I used to try to keep cripple off but since it was a 50/50 chance I made sure to only try it when she was in rage of the attack to at least get the damage. Signet I did not use at all, instead letting the passive remain while I used Merciful Intervention for healing purposes. Judge’s Intervention I used when she would get into melee with me for the damage and heal, then immediately follow it up with a Shield of Absorption.
Virtue of Courage, Renewed Focus, and the second Virtue of Courage were my “OH kitten!” buttons.
