Hyinna, Gunnars Hold
[Ub] – My Life for Alesia
Is there any good reason why failure at Queen’s Gauntlet leaves you dead, with the necessity to then waypoint and then run for miles back to try again?
Would love to be returned to the Ringmaster (or for bonus points, where I started). Break my armour if you want, fine me the waypoint cost if you want – I really don’t care. Just stop making me run all the way back everytime…
Anyone else agree? Would it be possible to quickly throw this in a patch as it’d massively improve the experience of everyone going for these harder Gauntlet achievements?
Agreed. The run back frustrates me more than trying for hard gambits and failing EVER will.
The run back was indeed frustrating
Salt on the wound.
They said they did this for community. So that people will revive each other. Too bad nobody wants to revive you if anyone is even there.
yeah think most of us take those arenas with min. 3-4 Players to have a short queue.
So one is afk^^, on dies and the third gets portet and chance is high he comes back dead :-)
Use Revive Orbs.
I’m doing it now with a friend and we’re reviving each other, but it still feels like we’re succeeding despite the design: it doesn’t need to be so annoying that you need another player to make it not annoying!
Loving the fights though, but all the waiting/running makes it needlessly less fun than it should be
I’m been wondering why they decided to do it that way. They should have put another waypoint in at least, up in the ring so we don’t have to run all the way back. Usually (for me at least), there’s one, maybe two people, in the same area as me, and that person is usually next up, so he/she doesn’t have time to rez me.
Yes, there is a good reason: walk of shame. Ahahahaha
I think the plan was to encourage players to watch each other fight. This is why they aren’t instanced, they wanted you to show off your skills in front of other people. Assuming that works, revives should be easy to come by. That’s why they bothered to get a voice actor to be a kind of announcer for the spectators.
Whether or not you enjoy that is another story.

This. Just to add to it, I’d love to see guys like Masked Paradigm, wethospu, obal, dub, strife, or any of the other popular boss wizards fight live. I mean, back when we were solo’ing lupicus, that’s what we’d do: stand back and watch. Now ANET has taken that concept and made it a full blown gametype and it’s awesome!

I revived one guy when he died. When it was my time to die, he didn’t revive me.
That was a bad idea, Anet.
Actually, the best strategy is maintain with 3 guys on each dome.
- 1 Doing
- 1 Dead
- 1 Ress
So, all you roll for the boss. Its very good, because the time you have to wait, you can calm down your nerves. (Also, can recharge elit skills)

Yup it’s great when it works, but right now I’m at an arena with no-one else around so I have no choice but to run back.
Seems kinda pointless… if I just got ported back I’d still watch and chat while queueing – probably more so as I wouldn’t be running back all the time. So it’s at least taking away from the community aspect as much as it’s giving.
Not to mention there’s been a few times people just haven’t ressed me, as already mentioned.

That was their plan. Supposed to build community. If anything, at least to me, it removes community. They should made it two separate things. both the instanced and the noninstanced, you decide which one you want to que for when you talk to the ringmaster. I wish it was instanced, I don’t like being watched by others
yea, I just qued when there are people nearby, so they can rez you
The biggest point with the plan “encourage players to watch each other fight” is, that all other players pub train the champs and keep their loot lists scrolling.
I for myself tried the first fight 2 times, but having to run up again, keeping track of the tickets and paying money for the waypoint + armor costs – that’s not worth the pain.
Maybe I’ll try with a few friends tonight. Otherwise I’ll just skip that content and hope that I get money for the tickets afterwards.
Agreed. Could really use a WP in the upper part IMO.
