What exactly is permanent in this patch?
I’m up to believe that anything sheduled as one “Event” (all you’ve said is in the category “Events”) its not permanent content, since “Event” basically means something temporary.
Yeah, even the guys who work on the Wiki are apparently unsure about what’s what. Clarification would be nice.
I noticed that as well. Probably nothings permanent since they didn’t specify anything as permanent. I’m hoping I’m wrong and the Gambit/Crown Pavilion are at least permanent. Balloons, torches, and opening ceremony shouldn’g be permanent, imo, cause those are event specific. Hopefully we get some kind of redpost confirmation/clarification.
Please give us a keyring…
Dev said that Watchwork stuff is permanent and so is Personal Portal
pretty sure that the new wallets are permanent at the very least.
Sadly Anet seems to want to learn the hard way what happens when you don’t grow your game properly. Living story is fine, but make it so it adds to the gameworld instead of substituting. I honestly don’t think Colin gets what kind of problems he is steering the games future into.
I think the crown pavilion is obviously periment content. Look at it, it’s a complete redesign of the district.

This is kind of strange… If everything listed under “event” is temporary.. They said they would add MORE permanent stuff, but this looks like tons of temporary content if thats the case… Anet, help us out?
actually I think that all the structures added in game would be permanent (unless after two weeks all will not collapse again ^.^)
also I think that that arena 1 player vs 1 champion could be permanent
“-and on this occasion I keep mine plate armors”
discussion about offensive/deffensive playstyles

Unless it collapses again at the end of the two weeks/month…

… and Primordus comes out, right in the midst of Divinity’s Reach.
<Insert dramatic prairie dog here...>I hope that the arena is permanent, challenging PvE content shouldn’t be temporary imho I love how they did it with the Moa race: temporary achievement for the event only + corresponding reward (moa with helmet) and permanent implementation with a different reward (moa without helmet).

Anet didn’t have a use for the collapse district. They had to put something pertinent their to fill in the space from the scrubbed arts district.
What I would like to know is what Anet original plans for the arts district was.

Best we know, at some point prior to launch it was the location of a Canthan district (a counterpart to the Elonian and Ascalonian districts). We’ve heard (comments to a podcast from one arenanet developer who may or may not know the whole story himself) that the way ArenaNet was designing the Canthan art style caused problems with some higher-ups due to the mix of different styles, and ArenaNet didn’t have time to completely redo the entire art style to fix it and replace everything before launch, so they chose to remove it and put The Great Collapse there instead, with it (in-game) previously being an Arts district.
Players tend to confuse the in-game history of the area with the development history of the area. However, we do not know everything about what happened, nor the current state of affairs with the whole situation (and honestly anyone saying otherwise is trying to sell you something).
There’s several threads (including a big Cantha one) discussing this in more detail, so hopefully we won’t derail this topic.

Here’s a picture of what the Great Collapse looked like earlier on in development:

That’s what I thought. But I mean more like what mini games, art professions, armor, weapons was planned to go with the theme.

That is gorgeous! I could get lost there!
I hope the gauntlet will be permanent.
Always remember one thing – your opinion is your opinion not fact.
Yeah. Get a kick out of you Canthan Distric ppl. That same link was posted in the thread k*tten a bunch of fanbois are goin on about it. And the devs telling them there never was. A pre release screeenshot, same one posted above was linked as proof. Pre release means nothing. Gotta love how you guys know better what was there “for sure” better then what was developmental ideas that were discarded as the product matured. Do go on tho. It’s hilarious telling the people who make the game you know what they made better then they did.

You seem to be having problems with the english language. What they actually said about it was Cantha district does not exist in the game’s lore because we got rid of it before launch.

But you have to remember that the new content here was likely designed and made several months ago. They have said they want to start gearing towards more permanent stuff, but if they’ve only just started to focus on that change, it could be another month or two before we start seeing that happen.
Most minigames from the last release are staying ingame, so some of these may as well? We don’t have confirmation. The arena in DR seems pretty permanent though!
