Where is the non-temporary PvE Content?

Welcome to Guild Wars 2 my friend.
Yep, if the gauntlet is truly temporary then that’s an awful decision.
Super-hard achievements (yay) for a short period of time (boo) that only SIX people can attempt at a time (what the actual what) is an unholy poor combination!
I hope they see sense on this and just make it permanent – solving all the problems at a stroke.
(to the person coming after who wants to post “but how can you complain about a patch that isn’t even out yet” – it’s because we’ve been through this loop of needless temporary content before and this is criticism that doesn’t require playing the gauntlet first, for obvious reasons :p)

You forgot to add that you also need a ticket to participate in the gauntlet

Yeah, you forgot the other time limiting part.
Please give us a keyring…
Very very good question!

Lol, indeed. It’s all straight out of the Factory of Terrible Ideas, indeed.
On the plus side they’ve managed to make something sound less appealing than Candidate Trials which is quite a feat given the freshness of that particular disappointment.

Welcome to Temporary-mini-game-wars-2
They have given up any premise of providing new open world permanent content in favor of an endless stream of temporary mini-games that take people out of the world.
They don’t even bother with originality, they just steal the ideas directly from popular books/movies like the hunger games and now catching fire.
imagine GW2 had no temporary content at all… how much content we would have actually. My frustration about giving players who enjoy solo-pve-challenges time limited content makes me hate the Living Story.
Think of it, if devs wouldn’t have spent time working on the Living Story we would have seen improved dynamic events in all the zones, maybe even with compelling small closed stories. We would have 300 events in a zone where the game started with 100.
If I could vote for or against Living Story at the moment, I’d absolutely give all my voting-tokens to classic style content. New stuff every 2 weeks which is permanent… wow that would really be impressive.
Maybe the reason they keep adding to the Living Story and not the permanent content is because the new permanent content will be released in a new expansion?
Remember, Anet is already on money constraints. You have to hand it to them for being able to support this entire game without a monthly subscription. And you know that a new expansion is bound to happen.
The temporary nature of the Living Story keeps people wanting to come back to the game every 2 weeks or so to get the achievements, mini’s, and any other content temporary content. And while the Living Story content is getting released to hold us over, the rest of the developers can keep developing the new stories, events, and possible dungeons for a new possible expansion. It sucks if you want to take your time, but you can’t complain. Anet has already given you everything, including the kitchen sink, for a low cost. This the only way they can keep money coming in so that they don’t have to slap a $10/month charge on us.
