Ancient Karka only once?
Yep. Means if you missed it, like most people did, congratulations, you get nothing. Other than listening to how others got exotics and precursors.
Yes, that is why people are pissed.
What the hell really? I couldn’t find my way to that stupid spot and when I finally did, I missed it. Well that’s a giant disappointment. But if its a one time event, why does it display to the right that it has been defeated and SoS is quiet once again? Usually when I see that the event occurs again
It’s so you can feel like you’ll get a second opportunity, but there is none. Just another way to crush your spirits and ruin your day.
Don’t worry everyone that got loot got a bunch of stuff they cannot use. The only thing I got that I can use is a level 80 amulet that is account bound and I am level 57.

This is not true at all. Several people got 20 slot bags or the precursor items for legendaries. At the very least, 2-3 exotics were awarded. So there’s plenty of reason to worry and be upset.
I got invited to a party to join my guild, and someone got The Lover…wow wtf
(edited by ZeroArmada.9426)
It wasn’t worth it, don’t be mad if you missed it.
Killing the same monster (in various sizes) that has far, far too much HP (and has to be “killed” twice each) sometimes 30 at a time, while they randomly run around one-shotting everyone for 3 hours straight at 10 fps (or less)
Just no. it was pretty much the opposite of fun, and unless you got dusk or dawn (and maybe not even then since price is probably going to tank now) a total waste of time.
It’s still incredibly stupid. Whatever, thanks everyone for the info

Everyone got a 20 slot bag that was account bound as well as an amulet that was level 80. I was there fighting and got some of the stuff from the chest and everyone was talking about the weapons and armor were things they could not use.
Just accept it now. You have to be Neet to enjoy the events in this game. God forbid they make any queued instances for one time events.

The exact same thing happened to me too. All I got to see was a dead karka and people linking exotics.
How could you do quested instances? I Mean I guess I don’t know how big some people’s groups were, but I swear we needed every signle person we had!
Yes, that is why people are pissed.
Actually most people are pissed because they did the event but missed out on the reward due to crash or disconnect.

Yeah the only thing I got that was good was the 20 slot bag. I got one Exotic Shield that was not even an upgrade on my other exotic shield I already have. The other thing I got was a few rares that where not upgrades on any level 80 alts. All my alts have Exotics, and a rare stone that has + bonus’s on it, that I can slot in a piece of armor. Unfrotunly no Precursor like some got. But oh well that is just my luck, there will be more events, right?
fact is, they could have improved the event by making the ancient karka re-spawn. however you only get the chest once.
that would solve all the d/c, timezone, etc. issues.

is this whats called common sense…?
I’m glad there’s one-time-only events that makes permanent changes to some parts of the world.
Rather than make the event repeatable or re-spawning, keep the event going on in the real world then once it’s defeated it’ll stay defeated but for thoses who missed out or thoses who want to farm a bit, heck you could have some crazy asura genius from a lore standpoint giving a chance to others who missed out on this and let him use his machine to open portals (leading to an instance in the past when the ancient karka was still running amok).
In this situation it would satisfy both parties for thoses who want to see permanent changes in the world and for thoses who wanted to do the event but missed out on it.
Anyone think this would be a nice idea?
I like that idea BatteryBiscuits. The only trouble would be find enough people to go back and do it. We had too few people to begin with.
This event was not a “gimme.” It was HARD to find where to go. I died getting there. I went to the wrong area once or twice. I got frustrated, but I never gave up. People who completed this event were treated to some nice rewards. Those who missed it or neglected to put enough weight on its importance did not.
P.S. I did not get a precursor.
Obviously this should be a morning and evening event.
This whole event has been a train wreck. Not only were the pre-events bugged until almost 5 am for me, they do a one time event that a lot of people missed out on, or got disconnected. I expected more bang for my buck. Such a shame.
How could you do quested instances? I Mean I guess I don’t know how big some people’s groups were, but I swear we needed every signle person we had!
Actually what we needed was less people. The huge population caused the event to scale so much that we had lvl 84 champion and vet mobs running around that took longer to kill than the actual boss =/
Even the people who did the event are pissed, because it was kitten boring.
There is only a handfull of extreme fanbois that still dare to defend this. It was just horrible. Seriously, I took my hand off the keyboard during 70% of the event, 10% was trying to get on top of random pieces of the environment and the last 20% was running to the next spot where we had to stand for an hour killing karka…. uuuuuuuuuuuuuuugghhhh, I was bored. I almost quit halfway through, but then you’re already so far and u don’t wanna quit, you know what I mean probably :/
I shouldn’t worry. I was travelling on the motorway for 3 and a half hours. Arrived home to find all Ancient Karka’s dead and now that I’m looking into it I find that the first chance was the only chance. I don’t mind a one time event if it repeats and unlocks a single instance reward like a daily. But a serious ONE TIME event was just stupid.
This whole event is horribly done and kicking those who missed it just adds to the stupidity of it all.
Its not ARENANETs problem you cant read to by honest.
They advertised this will be ONE-TIME event many times for a long time. And One-time means that it happens only once. So what are you pissed about?
All you are angry about is that you didnt get your epics or precursors. Well that happens when you miss something big.
You cant blame anyone else, but yourself.
And really, dont try something like: ‘’I was in work, I had ore important real life m things to do, etc’’ …

Oh right. I’ll blame myself because the event occurs when I am sleeping like a normal person would (4 am Monday on my time) because I have to go to work at 6 am to earn money to pay my bills.
Yes, definitely sounds like my fault because I have a job.
One-time events should be avoided as much as possible or if there are, loots and items should not be that much – just to be fair to others who cannot play not because they want to, but because they really can’t.
And no, I am not angry I did not get Precursors or the 20 slot bag or Exotics – I am disappointed. Instead of having a .01% chance to get them, I have 0% chance. It makes a ton of difference for casuals like us.

I agree with knives.6345.
Guild Wars 2 is a “Worldwide” game, and timezones of all countries varies (morning on one and night on the other), and having deprived of a chance to “even experience” (let forget about the loots) a One-Time Event is horrible experience for a player, especially if the only reason is the he/she lives in a different country.
Not all people, especially the responsible/with-lives ones, has the time to play almost 24 hours just to make sure that he/she can participate on that so called one-time event. ArenaNet could not expect people to, skip their work or classes or some emergencies because of a one-time event of a Game. if ArenaNet thinks of it that way, then ArenaNet proves that Games really destroys peoples ability to have their own lives and be responsible.
Having a one-time event for different timezones is just mainly, having a one-time event for GMT+, and one-time event for GMT- (other MMO Games do this, to give chance to all), its a 12hrs gap, casual players will surely experience it once, so it’s still a One-Time Event for them, and all players from different parts of the planet can have the opportunity to participate. One-time event for the East part of the Planet and a One-time event for the West part of the Planet.
If the player still manages to play across the different timezone to participate again, just make his character get no loot, because he already participated on his timezone (one One-Time Event per Account)
If events will occur like this in the future, it will became biased, and depriving the chance for the players on the other half of the planet.

The bolded part is the one that ANet should’ve done. Not to become bitter or whatnot, I can’t join the event (or future ones if it will be like this) because of where I live. I am on South East Asia, this last event happened 4am our time – and not only that, the last part happened 4am Monday (which is Sunday afternoon/evening to most people on West).
I will not get annoyed if it is “just an event” where like, you gain Karma, exp and some “common” Exotics (Explorer’s, Knights, Berserkers).
But putting Precursors on the loot table and giving some people 0% chance of getting one because they can’t attend the event because of timezone differences? Nah. Talk about unfair.

It’s funny because they defend night capping since players from other time zones deserve to play, any reasonable person agrees this is fine. So, did Anet toss that thought process out the window for this AMAZING one-time event? (sarcasm heavily implied)
