Can anyone answer if Ascended items with inscriptions to counter agony is required for lvl 10+ FotM? Because if so that is an elitist stance form Anet that I cannot fathom.

Currently it would cost most people about 50 ish gold to get a ascended gear with the inscription slot.

So.. you want to play a dungeon that is harder each time.. and you complain because you have a way to get better gear and make it easy? Shocking!

Closing off a dungeon to people who dont have 50 gold is ridiculous. Period.

You can play the first few levels of Fotm without any ascended gear. No one is precluded from playing fotm. Once you get to the higher levels it will become necessary, but by then you get so much loot in fotm it doesnt rly matter.

Ascended items are NOT required to do level 10 FotM (the first level you see Agony).

Each boss in level 10+ has a mechanic the will cause Agony, but all the mechanics are avoidable. If you have gotten to level 10, you should know how to avoid them by now (is that elitist?), unless you have gotten VERY unlucky and not seen a specific instance once in the 27 or so fractals you have run so far to get through level 9.

You can redo the bonus levels (even numbered levels) from level 10 and higher each day for a chance at the special reward chest and an Ascended item in that chest (think of it like a daily).

You are welcome, good hunting, and good luck getting one. I know I will be working on my 3rd try through level 10 to get one after the next reset. Or maybe if our group completes level 12 tomorrow…

you are trying to pug an elite level 80 dungeon designed to challenge organized groups with a low level?

As for the OP:

1. Ascended gear drops in the chests in level 10+ so you don’t need to buy anything. In fact the drops are Bind on Acquire so you can’t even buy them.
2. Agony is avoidable, if you are good enough to get to agony levels you can probably avoid it.
