Despite having the option to do a few other cool things this weekend, I opted to participate in the Lost Shores event.

Yesterday (as I have written about in another thread), my girlfriend and I were plagued with lag, invisible enemies, and bugged events. She opted out of the rest of the event, but I decided to give it a try today.

What I was faced with was an event that didn’t trigger in the overflow I was in, more lag, more invisible enemies, a jumping puzzle that is so full I can’t see my character, and the inability to complete some events due to yesterdays bugs.

I have been sitting there for the last hour wondering why I even care? I have a bunch of single player games that need to be completed, I have a bike I can ride, I have a girlfriend I can spend time with, and I have a bunch of TV shows I want to catch up on. Yet, I was sitting there, frustrated, trying to force myself to play because I knew I only had this weekend.

Then it hit me, I don’t care. I was going to log in for the event tomorrow, but I think I’m going to spend the day outside instead. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s amazing that ANet is creating new content and such, but this was such an epic fail on so many levels that I just can’t allow this game to waste anymore of my time.

I’ll see you all on Monday when things are back to normal.

I have been away from Gw2 for a long time now, and I was hoping that this event was going to pull me back in, but my friend told me how bad, and how stupid this event is, I didn’t even bother to log in for it.

Because I really want to spend my time off from work, auto attacking some stupid crab thing for 20 mins, while trying to play through some ridiculous lag, DC’s, and bugs. And even if I can manage to stay online long enough to do it, it’s a big brain dead zerg, how is this, in anyway “content”?

I have read to much negative feedback about it, this game seems like such a waste of time now.

This would have been such a clutch time to get new people playing, what a sour taste this mess would have left. I’m glad I didn’t waste my time on this.

I have to agree. This whole mess has left a bad taste in my mouth. So many bugs, so many difficulties to do anything, it’s just not any fun. I’m a guild leader of a dead guild due to failures like this. I am just so discusted, I don’t even want to play any more at all, and that really makes me sad! I played GW1 since the very biggining, almost every single day and enjoyed every minute of it. I’m not enjoying this any more.

Unfortunately, I still care. I don’t exactly know why, but after dropping WoW I didn’t really play any MMO extensively for a long time and I had really hoped that ANet would do the right things with GW2 after they had done GW1. Like they promised. And I’ve been happy for a while after release. Then they managed to destroy all that within a few days. Events are still bugged, NPCs are still bugged, the scaling is still bad, there are better stats on items now. Lots of broken promises, bad to no testing. They even broke my class. They said they have two people working on all classes, that’s insane. And so sad. They’re never gonna fix all skill bugs, they’ll make it even worse. I’ve not been so frustrated by a company and a game in a long time. Gaming should be fun. GW2 was, for a while. Until I realized that ANet turned into a different company. I won’t participate in the event tomorrow, eventually I won’t play for a while at all but rather wait and see what happens to the game and my class. Maybe I’ll be back. Some of our WvW players are quitting and it seems the guild somehow wants to move on but doesn’t know where because there’s no real alternative. Which doesn’t make it better. Looking back: WoW was actually more fun. Not because of the grind of course. It’s sad that these events never feel massive or epic, because friends and foes are just invisible most of the time. I’ve never felt more “alone” and anonymous in a multiplayer game than during these events with random people popping on and out on random overflow servers.

Yeah this Update is awful, the dungeon is fun but the new Ascended items and the new Threadmille route is awful , this is nothing like GW.

And now the event are almost bug, the update put a lot of bug in dungeons ( i just cant comlete Path1 of COE today for a bug in the Ice Giant ) and the new zone is only kill karka.

It could sound fanboyish but my most wish in my 8 years GW player is that they left the dungeon and rollback all the update and new items and never never never put it in the game but i know is impossible.

Sorry you feel that way. While disappointed with the overall presentation of the event, I am still having lots of fun in the new fractals Dungeon, and I think the new Lost Shores area is so absolutely stunning that I could spend hours just exploring.

I sympathize with you, OP. I would do the same. I did not have a day off from work this week so I’ll miss out on this event, but from the threads I’ve been skimming through it seems I wasn’t missing too much.

I have fond memories of Halloween and, even though unfortunately the new players with invitation codes this weekend didn’t get to experience it, it is enough for me to not get too disappointed with Anet because I was able to see the potential of how awesome these “events” can be.

This one didn’t turn out so well for many, great for some perhaps, but there will always be another event around the corner and hopefully it will live up to the same standards as that of the Halloween event (or maybe even surpass it). It’s something that I look forward to along with more cool costumes from the Gem shop. ^^

I have been choo-ing along with this game non-stop since beta… but I am fast feeling the anguish others are feeling.

Someone at arenanet still hasn’t realised: No it is not fun to stand there auto-attacking a mob for 20 minutes, all whilst getting no reward (gear treadmill is also a turn-off).

Gameplay is getting boring. WvW has received zero attention. Bugs that should’ve been fixed months ago are being ignored. s/tPvP has had no major developments since launch.

We need a new experience. Not the same old crap with different skins. We need new mechanics.

e.g. Dueling, Capture the Flag… the Halloween mini-games were actually pretty fun.

WvW needs new stuff too. New maps, new capping mechanics, new goals to direct gameplay. The ladder also needs to be rebalanced and free transfers closed to prevent 1 mega server arising amongst 0 competition (and this is why WvW is dead for almost every bracket now).

Time to move on to a new game perhaps.

imo, Anet has put more effort in putting in unnecessary details rather than just simple mechanics that will improve the game.

IMO they need to stop making events like this and devote more time into figuring out how they can do them successfully. I was just so disappointed in this whole thing.

I don’t like the new treadmill. The dungeon would be fine without introducing a gear treadmill. I haven’t even bothered with the new zone because I’m still stuck on bugs, everywhere.

People are not going to be requesting players have ascended gear. I will bet you anything. To assume a ‘gear treadmill’ is premature.

Besides the lag in LA during the first event, i have been having a lot of fun with this whole event.
I suppose when it boils down to it, that’s all that really matters.

Though Anet should really get on some of these bugs, but ill be patient

2) The Infusions are only necessary for PvE content. If you primarily enjoy the PvE aspect of this game, then it’s awesome to be able to continue progressing your character. If you primarily enjoy PvP, this doesn’t affect you at all.

Yes, it’s required for the Fractals. Duh. I said future content beyond the Fractals. You can’t argue that it’s gated content if the content is gated to itself.

Now, if it turns out that you need Ascended gear to survive in the next set of dungeons they release, that would be gated content.

Except it does because the gear is better, so if you enjoy WvW you’ll need the gear to remain competitive. Which is further compounded by the fact that the current Ascended gear has limited stat selection, so your favored build(s) may not even be supported.

Now I’m getting error 7:11, the most notorious and long lasting DC bug in the game that has never been fixed despite thousands of people having issues with it. :/

I’m going back to Rift. Am very disappointed. This is second event that is a Fail. Maybe they would keep more players in the game if they stop doing special events for which they seem ill prepared.

You said a great deal about how I’m feeling about the game now. The dungeon is pretty cool, and that’s it. I would’ve gladly traded that for some serious improvements in WvW, and some actual new skins. I laughed my kitten off today after looting a new Exotic pair of pants only to realize it’s a reskin of the ones I already wear from the Karma vendor. Absolute kittening fail. I’m also not, under any circumstances, going to use the kittening Mystic Toilet in the hopes I can flush a few kitten down that thing and receive a golden egg as a result. Get real Anet, reward your players for the time they spend playing the game instead of having to slog through buggy content hoping the loot slot machine doesn’t kitten them in the kitten Whatever, this game’s post launch development has been as kittenW:TORs and I really didn’t think that kitten was possible.

I was away from this game, because well, it’s lack luster. Thought this event was going to pull me back in, but all the hate for this event exists for a reason. My friend told me to not bother with it, because it’s a waste of time, poorly done, and boring. I’m not gong to waste my time playing through lag, DC’s, bugs etc.

They told everyone to show up at X time or you miss it because it’s only a 3 day thing! What did they think was going to happen when most of the players who are interested in playing it show up in one location?
