Event Chest Exotics / Precursors
Table Warfare Miniatures - Armatures, Custom Miniatures, Moulds etc.
My thoughts exactly. I haven’t tried a dragon in a while but I’ll be giving them a go during the Thanksgiving break.
According to what I am reading and the reports I have been shown. It is not a small amount that received precursors.

Well his theory could still hold true man. What if the drop rate for precursors was raised to 10%?
Go kill 10 dragons and get back to us.
Clearly the “certain champions and veterans” only applies to some obscure ones because I’ve gone champion hunting and I’m still finding lots of them dropping a white or nothing at all.

As I asked earlier, please don’t make this a complaint thread.
Now, the point of this thread is that the notes suggest that they improved the exotic drop rate. Precursors are exotics. Now, if a large number of people got precursor exotics, then a large number ought to continue getting precursor exotics from boss chests, and the gold value will diminish.
However, compared to the number of people that opened the chest, it was a very small amount that received precursors. Even if the market was now flooded with 1000 new precursors (which it isn’t), that’s still less than 0.1% of people who opened the chest.

It sounds more like the market value of precursors are still way too high. People raging believing they were screwed out of a “free 300g item”. I fear this is going to come up everytime they do an event with an exotic reward in the future. Its like legendaries are the cause of most of the drama with special events around here.
I think the main issue here is that the chest drops 2 guaranteed Exotics (aside from the 20slot and the access).
If you look how the loot table works then you would understand that this event holds the highest chance because of the reason above.
as long as anything has a chance to drop exotic then you have the chance of getting precursor.
Not a big fan of precursor drops, would rather see some sort of quest chain as leaving it to chance will disappoint many more than it satisfies.
Now I might change my mind if I get lucky…
Anet has stated that the precursors were becoming too unreachable and that they were making changes to that.
This one time chest was only a part of these changes. The drop rate from the MF has also been increased and further changes can be expected to happen.
Obviously if people expect that this chest was a one time thing and that getting precursors would be getting back to normal after that than obviously people would be upset. But that isn’t going to be the case so no worries.
I’m still getting only blues and greens from dragon chests tho.
You know, I have no problems with the loot rate; it’s a common thing in all game design. Some people get lucky.
That being the case, I wonder if Magic Item Find Rate runes effect that? Meaning if you had +100% magic find on your stuff, would you have an increased chance of, say, getting a precursor?
Speaking of, there are other places where Precursors do drop… just very, VERY rarely
The problem is that gold in general isn’t that easy to get, it takes a significant amount of grinding to get decent gold and non-hardcores are just going to get bored fast. So if you make gold easier to get and take pre-cursors off the market so they are attained by other means then this game, might start heading in the right direction.
