Event chests done right...
Except I opened 40 of them and got absolutely nothing of value.
Haha, I’m just mad. I love the update.
stands and claps
Time to buy me some gems!
Hows the mats treating you ^?
I was a bit disappointed that minis were put in it too. But looking at the available minis, only 3 of them and none of them are anything I seriously want. So, its not too bad. Chances are they did it this way just because its such a short-time event.
Either way, the stuff does drop during the event. Which is a very good step up.
Haven’t recieved the chests I bought yet though.. :/ Hope it didn’t bug out and its just overloaded.

Better*, not quite “right” in my mind.
There’s still a LOT of arguable “junk” in these chests for 250 gems.
Personally, if the mini-pets were bought separately then that would be better in my mind.
I think what’s really getting me at the moment though? For weeks, -weeks- the Gold<→Gem ratio was roughly 124 Gems for 1 Gold, it was this way mere hours ago too. Suddenly, once the patch hits? roughly 85 Gems for 1 Gold. Makes it so arguably, buying gems is more effective than converting gold.
I know ANet need to make money but fiddling with the conversion rates like that is…not good business, in my mind.
Why couldn’t the kitten weapon skins and mini’s just be sold in the cash shop? Is there even a place to view these weapon skins?
i also purchased chests, but didn’t receive them yet

Uh… Considering that the Gem Store was primarily considered as a way for ANet to make money in the first place, I’d always wondered why it seemed like they were so generous on gold to gem conversions in the first place.
I’d imagine that a lot of people have been buying gems with gold over the past week (and even more so right now) to see what the new items are.
Edit: In other words, I don’t think they’re “fiddling” with conversion rates any more than they have previously. It’s supply and demand. People want to buy gems, so it’s only expected that the cost of gems will go up.

It’s not ArenaNet, it’s player driven supply and demand. The exact same thing happened with the release of Halloween items on the BLTC…. see http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem for a detailed view of how the rates have been moving (Halloween spike occurs on 23rd October)
This is what the chests are. When you realize that you do them becuase they are fun and there is a chance that you will get an amazing reward.
Also you should watch all of these guys’ vids. They are very underrated.
