Becase this dungeon is in the Mists it means it can by anywhere during time, and thats exactly what i believe that is going on.

Some of the fractals take you to specific events in Tyria’s history.

Ascalon – The searing event
Snowfall – ?
Swampland – Probably related to the “Chosen Ones” being slaughtered by the White Mantle under Mursaat’s command.

Also i believe we will be seeing the Mursaat soon. The merchants are selling gear vs Agony.
