Thinking this through, what most upset me was this:

An ~11 hour window for people to get what has been for the past few months the hardest items in the game in a way that makes previous methods laughable.

Should we continue to farm? Or just wait til the next event?
I believe this is a fair question.

Unfortunately this is pretty much MMO standard. Things are put into the game for the hard working, determined, fortunate and privelidged. And then at some random moment whenever the developer feels like it, those items either become obsolete or a huge amount more common making you wonder why you spent the time trying

Perhaps I am naive, I didn’t expect it to be within 3 months of release. I am scared to imagine how long it will take to acquire the new ‘unattainable’ items.

To answer your question, why not do both? Farming is fun and events are also fun. By the way, now you have to farm less to get your precursor because there are now more of them. And also. very few came out, so if your waiting till the next event for your precursor, you might be disappointed.

Honestly, I feel like a lot came out. Enough that items dropped 100g in value, and that’s just the initial sales, not the people holding out til post-event to flood the market. We’ll see though. Huge market drops/increases reflect just how much of an affect one 11 hour event can have.

I don’t like having my hundred’s of hours of hard working gameplay undermined in 2hr by something I was not allowed to access/access fairly easily.
Even if someone didn’t get an RNG drop, they still decided to give out a 10g+ bag and 3+ exotics/rares, easily 12-15g+.
Wait wait, let me guess Celeras, you got the chest right?

People complaining that someone else got a RNG drop? Give me a break. It’s not like they were handed out, tens of thousands did an event and a few got lucky rolls on their exotics.

I would think that the market crash on precursors means that, yes, they were just handed out.

Maybe it’s because I’ve been lurking the forums almost religiously, but I recall ANet reps noting that the prices of precursors are well above what they expected their “worth” to be. I’m not really disappointed in this event because I had the feeling the availability of precursor items were planned to be increase in due time.

I understand the frustrations of those who have received Legendary weapons before this point. That said, I saw this coming a long time ago.

So we put on a epic QQ-fest for a month that pre-cursors was to expensive and with the economy where only gold buyers can afford the precursors, ANet then put in a precursor-bailout to try to fix the problem, and now we are upset it wasnt 100% guaranteed precursor.. because you know, if the neigbour kid got nicer presents then you it instantly makes your stuff worthless.

There are 20 Dusks on the TP and the lowest price is 285g. Clearly they werent handed out at a staggering rate. OH THE HUMANITY.

Some people got them and sold them cheap because they felt it was still a lot of money to them. That is not anything even resembling a market crash.

The only reason there’s a market crash is because there are now more than a handful of them in circulation. There’s actually some market surplus now, wheras before there was zero surplus. The only precursors previously on the market were extremely priced because there was no competitive market whatsoever.

Where there are exactly 5 of a highly valued item on the trading post, there is going to be very little price competition. The people with them have an essentially cornered market.

When that number rises to a more reasonable supply, all it takes is a few people to undercut the previous standard. This doesn’t mean that even 10% of the entire game population posesses them. Remember, that in a global marketplace serving the entire worldwide customer base, the previous supply of these items was as low as double digit numbers in some cases. That’s less than 100 items in comparison with every GW2 player on earth

Even a small duck in rarity will completely realign that market.

Pretty much every MMO does this; hence why we should not have a gear treadmill where you only need to try once…

Back on topic!

I say wait till the next event, then again, I never actively farm in an MMO because it takes too much of my precious time… of course, luck plays a significant role in farming and it is boring as hell! _

Thus, I do whatever else I find enjoyable like WvW and fractals for the challenge! :P

Also, some people got 2 or 3 chests worth of rewards (yes – 2 or 3 20-slot bags + all the exotics) while some did not even get to participate once.
