Ok did the event today and while I was happy with my reward, the cheapness of the champions and the mass of veterans just killing wave after wave without being able to rez in a sanely closeby manner is starting to irk me. I know that some of this is how the NPC are rendering since the mass of players was making impossible to look around to see if the encounter was pullable or not, but still the amount of just spammy poisions and multiple layers got really old the 3rd time we near wiped.

In the future could we get a few temp waypoints put into events like this if they will span half a landmass?

I dont mind a semi hard encounter…but once you got into the hive if you died it was a 10minute slog thru vetran infested fields unless someone got lucky enough to stay alive and start rezing folks.

Yeah we had a few problems with this too on our server. At one point I had been killed so close to the ancient that it was literally guarding my body and killing people who tried to rez me. The huge spawns of only veteran enemies was pretty nasty too. On our overflow we had about 25 of them spawn on top of us. It got to the point that we had to make a team specifically for rezzing others. I mean I did find the event interesting, but I wish they had more waypoints or temporary waypoints definitely.

The event was completable, people I was with loved that an entire zerg could wipe. It felt like the event had meaning. A couple parts were a bit tedious (like the reinforcements phases) but running up the spiral and seeing everyone downed was hilarious. The chest will easily pay for repairs, so as long as you stuck it out, you got to experience a pretty hard core DE without losing money.

For people not familiar with dungeon mechanics I can see this would have been difficult to do, but those who have run dungeons would be very familiar with dodging attacks like those (the rolling ball of death was a bit hard to see with the culling I will admit).

I can appreciate people unhappy with the mass death, but it didn’t stop people from completing the event and it is probably one of the only ways to prevent the encounter from becoming trivial with the large numbers.

There should be more of this. Not every event of course but the special ones, including dragons which are currently unable to deal with great numbers of people. The karkas sent a lot of people packing, and those who stuck to it got a big reward at the end. That’s how it should be.

@ shiren I know how to dodge, and I have played dungeons…..and that walkway had very little area sometimes to dodge both the poision patches and the rolling vets/champs, that and some of the patches made it impossible to move since it immobilized you.

@TheGreatA But isnt a event like this SUPPOSED to be for everyone. Having a elitist attitude like that doesnt make folks stick around and keep the game healthy, it just cheeses folks off and say sorry no more.

There should be rewarding events for everybody but there should also be challenging events.

It’s just that people who invest more into the game and actively look for tougher challenges should be rewarded more. That’s just how it goes. You can’t ignore them either by catering towards more casual players.

Even then, a smart casual player would’ve waited until the event was at its end until joining the action, thus not wasting any of his time, so the rewards were possible to get for everybody who was around at the time of the event. If it had been nice and easy with no reward to speak of, the “hardcore” players would’ve been left with a sour taste in their mouth and probably the casual ones as well.

Obviously there were issues for every type of player, but I think it was a step in the right direction even if the execution of the event wasn’t without its flaws. There was challenge and there was reward. Not getting a rawhide boot for grinding an easy but tedious event. That’s been a real problem so far.

Meh, the problem as i see it is that the game is too focused on active defense. One bad moment, thanks to a distraction or problem at either end of the network connection and you find yourself on your back.

More than once during the spiral sections did i see poison barrages coming from veteran karkas that the server had culled because of the mass of people near me.

There need to be some leeway for errors in play or tech, at least on PVE and other mass events. In dungeons and other instanced events there is less chance of culling and similar, so there the hard cores can run riot for all i care.

Then again, with the new drop code perhaps i should just hang around 60-ish zones.

So what youre suggesting is we use immersion breaking waypoints that make the event easier for those that cant handle the content?

Our group ‘wiped’ three times as well and it was funny as hell! The run back was not too far and it was interesting to get back there and see who was still fighting for their lives and who were survivors. They were usually those at the back ranging the veterans, predictably enough!

FYI id happily have spent 2g on repair costs for that event. The experience for me was worth that (not including the chest which was a massive bonus!)

If its immersion breaking to have waypoints at all they why have ways in the first place?
No im just sugesting that if we have another event like this that litterally spans half a map, and is designed so that you WILL die, that a temporary waypoint maybe midway placed would be a excellent way to keep players that arent as hardcore as some in the event as productive individuals

They do have a camp at the south shore, where the POI is. Could have dumped a waypoint there for the duration. Maybe have some asura NPC going on about it being a prototype mobile emergency point or something.
